I have used the Kirkland brand of stop smoking aid (I think they are called Kirkland Signature, Quit Smoking 4mg, or something like that) and had good success. They are very strong and work for former dippers (an average dip delivers significantly more nicotine than a cigarette, so that matters). I'm happy to report that these Basic Care nicotine gums are *exactly the same*. I don't just mean that they are just as strong, or that they work just as well. I mean they are exactly the same. The same wrapper, the same label, the same taste, etc. Both have a label on each piece of gum stating that they are made in Denmark and distributed by Perrigo, so it looks like both Basic Care and Kirklands are buying the same generic Nicotine gum and selling under their brands. The price is similar, too, which is to say they are both a good deal. I have tried Nicorette (way more expensive) and like the Kirklands/Basic Care kind better. Hope this review helps!

Having never used in nicotine gum before, I was surprised that the dosage depends on how soon you have your first cigarette after waking up.
Thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. When you need one right after getting up, it shows how much your body is craving it.
If you wait until you start going, meaning longer than 30 minutes after you wake up, you don't need a dosage that is that high.
You start out by taking a piece every few hours, chewing periodically until it gives a tingling sensation. When you aren't chewing it, it goes between your cheek and gums.
If you are addicted to the ritual of having something in your hand and 'smoking', it can help to use a vaping product but only one that does not, I repeat not, have any nicotine in the liquid.
Remember to store it properly, between 68 and 77 degrees. It's tempting, but don't leave it in your car.

This is every bit as good as Nicorette as it works and tastes about the same. This is for heavier smokers who want a cigarette very soon, within 30 minutes, of awakening.
It has a thin coating on it and is easy to chew. It only takes a few seconds after the first chew to break the coating and get to the nicotine. Then you put it next to your cheek and the nicotine will absorb from there.
I like these better than patches because it seems like it gives hubby more control. He has been tempted to smoke with the patches on and that scares me. He is someone who needs to keep quitting and maybe one time will be his last.
I would recommend these anytime they were less expensive per unit than Nicorette or other comparable generics.

I scared to buy it without trying it but it's great. All nicotine gum is not the same. I have been using the CVS store brand but this was $11 cheaper and had 50 extra pieces. It is exactly like the cvs brand. Great purchase.

This huge box of higher 4 mg nicotine content saves money and really lasts a good long time. The mint tastes better (I've tried both the standard/this one and the mint flavor) but that is personal preference. The gum itself is rather tough and hard to get open which is a good safety measure around kids. I'm not a smoker so can't comment on the ability of this to stop cravings - I use it for long endurance runs to boost performance - does the trick very well.
