A lot better than my Alpha first gen. It's lighter and has non-binding latches. One thing surprising was the price swing. I first saw it on Amazon for $900 something and decided I didn't need it yet, so I waited to purchase. When I was ready to buy, the price shot up to $1200 something, which is about MSRP. I procrastinated until a week before my trip and luckily the price dropped to $900 again.

This was an awesome product but we found out our car is 4wd and we couldn't use this specific item so we had to return it.
Aluminum is much lighter than my older all steel model. Release handles don't bind as much.

Bought this to replace a now obsolete all-steel, 10,000 model which is just too heavy for me to reasonably manage. This is much better. Just think it could be less expensive.
