The Cowryman plane has elminated all the worry I had about making my bookcases
Mark H.✓ Verified Purchase•August 11, 2023
I'm am going to complete my project of making five white pine bookcases with six shelves each. I could not say this if it hadn't been for the Cowryman dado plane. The plane is so substantial and well built that I no longer worry about the sixty dadoes and ten rabbets I need.
I look forward to my next project with the Cowryman plane!

Ordered it Friday, came today on Sunday night via Amazon delivery. Opened it up and swapped out the wing nut for the locking bar screw (you can get more leverage on it) since I read people had issues with this design and the blade slipping due to the wing nut. Secondly, looking at the adjustment screw and the gap between the screw's adjustment knob and the top of the blade's bar itself, another way to make sure that IF it slips still, the nut is resting against the bottom of the blade bar's opening gap so that the blade has nowhere to go -- it'll be pressed against the nut anyways.
I did that and immediately went to the garage where my dull dado blade had left really uneven cuts into some plywood. After adjusting the router plane, it easily cleaned up the dado channel. I was pretty happy with it.
Yes, it's pretty small. So I actually just used it with one hand, and it worked just fine.

Good for a first time user!

This is the first router plane I've ever owned (or used), and I love it!!!
It came out of the box super sharp and ready to go! Even without any experience using a routing plane, I was able to figure it out- it's a pretty simple device.
I recommend using the "alternative" tightening screw provided- it gives a more ergonomic feel to tightening the blade.
I only have a few small complaints:
First, the depth screw has no markings on it- it's hard to tell how deep you are cutting. This seems to be common in router planes, though. I just got around this by marking the blade with a marker!
Second, the hole around the blade is a little larger that I'd like- it makes it easy to accidentally get the plane out of flatness near the edges of the board. (i.e., I was frequently attacking the board at an upward angle, and exiting the board at a downward angle, until I realized what was happening).
But seriously, the complaints are minor- I really like this tool! I look forward to cutting some quick and consistent rabbets and dados with it!

I am a serious woodworker and have owned this product for about a month. All I can say is the marketing is spot on as to what it can do. The chisel depths and sharpness of cuts are remarkable, and simple to adjust. The pictures, videos, and explanation of this product are completely accurate and I recommend it. Just wish I would have found it a lot sooner. The steel is of very good quality and the unit appears very well made. Buy it.
