These are really cute and put out a lot of bubbles. I ordered them for the bubble send-off at my daughters wedding. I was going to also buy a bubble machine but instead I am just going to order a few more of these!
Definitely requires adult assistance for younger kids but good clean fun.

We got two full packs of these for the 10 nieces and nephews who will process down the aisle before us at our wedding soon. We tested a few out. They spit out nice little whimsical bubbles (no big ones) in some abundance.
The good: NO SOUND! Exactly what we wanted. No irritating whistles or sound effects -- just a quiet hum of air as the friction-based mechanism works. Also, a great price considering others cost double for unnecessary bells and whistles, distracting from the real thing you want from this whole experience: bubbles.
The bad: Unlike the battery-powered ones, this is all mechanical, so you can't hold down the trigger -- nothing will really happen. Instead think of the mechanism like a lawn mower where you need to crank it a few times to get the bubbles churning. This means 1. an adult (or really patient kid) will need to crank the trigger a few times to even prime the tube and get the bubble solution in there from the bottle upon first use, and 2. to get these bubbles going anyone using them needs to be aware they need to be rapid-fire pulling the trigger like a wild west sheriff, not holding it down like someone at an arcade. I think it will work fine as long as our young ones understand that that's how you operate them AND an adult makes sure to prime them all so they're ready to go off the bat.

Kind of worked kind of didn't served purpose for my 3 year olds birthday

A few of them did not work and amazon gave me my money back. None of them had a tight seal so they leaked all over you hands. If they fell to the side the bubble solution leaked out of the top making a really big mess.
