They did NOT work as they should!

I was so hopeful! I set my plants up ahead of our departure to be certain these things were working properly. Within a few hours, several of them had depleted almost all, if NOT all of the water from the bottles, & several of the plants were overflowing onto my window seat. A couple seemed to have no water drained from the bottle, which would have made me feel good about them, but I am now concerned they are not working at all.
Tubes need weights!

I bought these to water my office plants while I'm on vacation. As others have said, I had to weight the end of the tubing so they would stay at the bottom of the water jug. I'm at work and don't have access to much in the way of supplies for creating weights, but I figured out something I hope will work for two weeks. That's why this gets 4 stars. As far as the watering, I don't know but I can check back when I get back to the office to see if my plants are still alive!

I've only just started using these, but I'm generally satisfied. Like another reviewer said - follow all the instructions to get them to work properly. I've found that I have to adjust the insertion depth for different size plants - for small plants, I just barely push the cone into the soil and for large plants I push it in all the way. I didn't poke holes in the cones, as I did not want to accelerate the water delivery, and they seem to be working fine for my houseplants.
2 of the 8 the tubes in my set were broken (somehow plugged, and would not suck up the water), otherwise I would have given more stars.

Effective pant waterer

Worked well, but had to find a weight to hold the end down in the water. Two in a 12" planter, using a 5 gallon pail, kept a 3' tall plant hydrated for 2 months. Follow instructions carefully, immerse in water over night, fill cap, don't allow air into the cycle, poke ceramic end into soil.
