Be creative and it works great! No more litter!
The Dude✓ Verified Purchase•July 20, 2023
You have to be a little creative to make this work for your cat and situation. With that and a lot of patience this thing works great! You'll need clay pellet liter because regular liter can fall through and clog the holes of the tray. I switched my cat's liter box over to the clay pellets in a liter box with no lid and got her use to that. I then setup this training kit on the liter box half covering the box and leaving half exposed so she could still go in the liter box. I put her on the training ring and would encourage her to use it, gradually (days to weeks) moving the training ring over so that it eventually covers the liter box forcing her to use the ring. Once she got familiar with using the actual training ring for pee and poop with no accidents I then moved the ring to the toilet, removed the liter box and encouraged her to go up there. Because she had already gotten use to using the ring she took to it on the toilet just fine. I gradually reduced the amount of clay liter I put in the tray each time I replaced it until there was no liter and she would go in the empty tray. Then I removed the center tray all together and let her get use to going with no tray present. Once she was comfortable with that I removed the entire training kit from the toilet and she used it just fine. Over 3 years with no more liter! Love it!
working so far, but with one design flaw.

I liked this design over some of the other toilet training seats because it seemed like the cat didn't have to straddle as much of a toilet seat as with other brands. There's a downside to that, however. My cat seems to only halfway get anything into the hole and tends to get half of the mess all over the seat. He can't possibly be the only one who does this so I see the perfectly flat surface of the seat as being a design flaw because then urine can spill over the side of the seat. If it was very slightly curved inward like a drain in the floor then urine would seep under the bowl and into the toilet instead of onto the floor. That being said, so far he's been successful.
Do read the directions first, folks. I figured the design was simple enough and had put the directions aside. I started with the litter box on the toilet seat for about 2 weeks, then switched to using this thing. He transitioned just fine, but he also has never had litter box issues. You might have more trouble with other more particular cats. Also make sure you're using the right litter. The bowl has drainage so regular clumping litter will fall right through and then you have something which is designed to make clumps clogging up your toilet.
Quick note for cats who are diggers even when digging isn't required, the litter will get all over the seat. Then if they're like mine and pee all over the sea, the litter will be kinda stuck to the seat. It's not clumping litter so it's not super complicated to clean up, but it isn't something I anticipated having to do 5 or 6 times a day.
Last thing, and this goes along with cats who doesn't quite aim well---if you're sharing a toilet with the cat, be aware that they're peeing on this seat. then you're lifting the seat up and moving it every time you use the toilet. You have to figure out somewhere to put it. I balance it on the side of the tub and that has worked out so far. But that moisture has inevitably found its way over the sides of the seat, including over the handle section. Now you're lifting up something by pee soaked handles. I mean, you're going to have to wash your hands after using the toilet anyway, but it's gross to know that it's also because of the cat and not just because of your toileting evolutions. It's not as clean as the pictures make it seem when training. I haven't given up hope in training my cat. I'm going to see it through to the point where I can take the bowl out of the seat, which will probably be a month from now, and see if continuing to share a toilet in a small, 1 bathroom apartment makes more sense than cleaning out a litter box in small studio. I find keeping a container of sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizer, and sanitizing spray on the back of the toilet to help out a great deal.

Good product, but the training is stressful on the cat.

Product seems to be great. Cat took to it right away. We ultimately made the decision to stop training. We may try again another time.
As we tried to ween the cat off the litter by decreasing the Amount of litter in the bowl, we started having issues. Cat is a kitten, less than a year old. He was holding his urine and movements to only once in the morning and once in the evening. This was making him stressed. He did have a couple accidents outside the bowl because there wasn't enough litter in the bowl.
His environment is already stressful enough with a 5 year old, home all
The time with virtual school, and removal of the litter box. I elected to stop training the ease his stress. I didn't want him to take it out on my daughter. I also didn't like that he was holding his urine and stool for so long. Potentially bad for his health. Once he got his box back, he has been super relaxed. If we try again, we'll use this product again, but I didn't expect it to be so stressful for him.
If your committed to doing it, this seems to be a great product to use. Very steady on the seat, Easy to clean, and you will have to clean it, a lot, until you can remove the bowl.

Good product, Just not for us

We bought this product to transition our two kittens (about 6 months old) to the human toilet. We had made a toilet seat that fit over the litter box, which they were using with some success, and we thought the Kitty's Loo would help them make the jump to the real toilet. One kitten (a female) was doing okay, except for the occasional accident caused by her positioning herself wrong. However, the other kitten (a male) did not take to it. He began going in the sink, the tub, and behind the couch. We tried backtracking, but it seemed he had decided "enough with this!" I think it has to do with anatomy. Some male cats prefer to have their front legs a little higher than their hind legs while going to the bathroom. Anyway, when I caught him just about to use the sink, I quickly removed the Kitty's Loo and the mocked-up toilet seat from the litter box, and put him into the litter box. He looked vastly relieved. We decided to go back to a plain litter box, and have had to "retrain" the male to not to use the sink. I think that if we had just the female, it would have worked.
The company did refund us without any problem, as we got it back to them in under 30 days. It is great to find a product like this made in the USA. I wish it had worked for us.

Update. While I see the positives to this. We have decided to for go any more training. We have gone back to a regular litter box. The negatives out weighed the positives for us. Do your research before committing to this.
We are still in the process of training ours with this. So I can only speak for the first few steps. Right now it is on her litter box. She uses it. But.....
We had to put something on either side of the Loo so she didn't flip it over when she climbed on it. Finding a box that was the perfect size was next to near impossible. At least locally.
Will update more as we progress farther.
