Great ice cream maker

Saturday night in our home is family night. We generally make some pizzas and watch a movie, followed by banana splits for desert.I have purchased several ice cream makers but it's a hassle making different kinds because of the freeze time for the buckets between batches.
When I saw this one I was very intrigued that that step was unnecessary but ice cream could be made just as quickly without the need to freeze the container or own many of them which has been very costly.
First of all I was very surprised by how great this machine looks. The digital set up and controls are quite nice and very easy to operate. Easy enough for my kids... The youngest is 5. Turn around time to the next batch was very very quick. This will be used many many weekends in my home.

I had a smaller ice cream maker but it requires the bowl to be frozen before use. It also took a long time to make. So I was looking for a new one. Almost bought 1 for $900+. Good thing Amazon sent me a recommendation email and this was 1 of the recommendations. Item arrived well packed. Very easy to use. It's somewhat quiet. The biggest plus is I don't have to freeze the bowl before making ice cream. I've made 2 batches so far. 1 was the pineapple Dole Whip and the other was coffee ice cream with coconut milk. Both are super good. The pineapple Dole Whip took 60 minutes to make since I made quite a big batch. The coffee one took 1/2 of the time. So happy I bought this.

I'm enjoying the ease of using this machine vs the hand-made, freezer method I've used for years. :) It does run pretty quiet, about comparable to when my fridge kicks in. The instructions say not to fill the inner container to more that 60% volume. That comes to just about 3.5 cups of base, so if your base recipe makes more, you'll have to freeze in batches. When it comes to actually making the ice cream, I'm pleased with the speed with which it freezes to a soft-serve consistency. So far, I've made 2 batches of custard type ice cream, with a starting base amount of maybe 2 1/4 cups, ending up with about 3 cups (due to the thickness of my base I get almost no overrun). It takes this amount of a custard base about 25 min to freeze to the point where the inner blade will no longer turn. Unfortunately, you can only set the time in increments of 10 min, and the motor for turning the dasher does not have an auto cut off if your ice cream freezes in a shorter amount of time than what you set. I'm still getting a handle on starting and stopping while already in motion and could have wished for more expansive detail in the manual. As far as I can tell so far, the cooling function only kicks in if you let the timer run out and wait 10 min, but not if you stop it manually. It is relatively easy to clean up, but that stainless steel housing is a fingerprint magnet! All in all I'm happy with this purchase, and if the dasher motor doesn't burn out, I anticipate getting good use of it this machine. :)

Okay, here's the good news... I was able to make delicious vanilla ice cream in less than thirty minutes...SO easily...just pour in the cream, milk and sugar and you're done...amazing. NOW for the bad news...this machine is HUGE and HEAVY...not a problem if you have tons of storage, but be aware...
