An in depth review - Evawear vs Thinx
Megan Smith✓ Verified PurchaseNovember 3, 2023
This is an in depth review between Evawear Hispter and Thinx Sport

1. Size- I wear a size small and both panties are similar meaning completely true to size. Both fit perfectly and do not snag or pitch in any capacity. They are just dignified period panties that fit. Both are equally true to size.

2. Fabric- Both are cotton. Evawear has one layer of fabric on non-protected areas and Thinx is actually has two layers of fabric on the entire panty. Not only does it feel like a superior product, the double sided cotton would prevent leaks in non-protected areas of the fabric just simply by being double sided. Thinx is better with two layers of fabric throughout the entire panty.

3- Band- On Evawear the band seems like a cheap feeling plastic shiny band compared to the opaque stretchy band from Thinx. I don't know if one is superior to the other, but I prefer the band on the Thinx underwear because it's more seamless.

4- Stitching- Stitching seems beautiful on both pair of panties but the Thinx stitching is downright gorgeous. Sounds like a stupid detail but I like it.

5- Feel: Evawear I can "feel" the sewn in protection liner "fold" against my butt. It's not super noticeable but with Thinx it just feels like regular underwear.

6- Protection- Both have decent protection with one BIG difference. Evawear has period protection only in the panty liner area where Thinx protection actually goes all the way up through the back of the panty. This is HUGE if you bleed a lot while you're sleeping and it gravitates towards the back. For general protection around the main panty line area, both preformed as advertised and as expected. Thinx can handle more blood without leaking around the sides but both are nice products overall.

6.5- The extended test you didn't want to hear about: I went camping and found myself only with a pair of Thinx panties on my last three light days. I wore one pair for three days straight because all my other supplies were exhausted. Yes, it was gross, but they held up. I am sorry to say I do not intend to repeat that with the Evawear so I can't give you the side of the "extended use test" unbiased review.

7- Price. You're looking at around 50 with shipping for 2 pairs of Evawear or 70ish for 2 pairs of Thinx. Evawear is much cheaper for similar protection.

Verdict: Both are nice. I feel more secure in Thinx as they are made double layered and have more protected bleed-proof areas. For my heavy days I will go with Thinx and with lighter days I will go with Evawear. If you have money to blow, Thinx are the superior product. Evawear is a nice solid panty that is comfortable and works as advertised.
90% effective as menstrual cup backup, with some fabric issues

I've had these since February 2017, and would describe my flow as medium-heavy the first 2-3 days. I like wearing these as I'm expecting a period to start and then as a backup to menstrual cups/tampons. During the time I've used them, I have had a significant leak once, minor leaking a few times, and probably as many close calls. There are a couple of things I didn't like about them. First, the material was more fragile than I expected, with a run in the fabric at the hip appearing on one of them within 3 cycles of wearing: currently, it looks like there's an extra strap, since I haven't bothered to trim it. Second, the absorbent fabric faded within 2 uses, and currently looks rust-colored in the crotch area. I only ever hand-washed these using body wash in the shower (hang dry), so they've been treated as delicately as my other panties. These do get a lot of use because I only bought one pack to try and rotate them through the length of bleeding. It does surprise me that one of them has held up better than the other, which makes me think these have great potential. They are comfortable to wear unless there is absorption of blood at the trim, as it hardens the lace. I usually wear an XS in underwear and the Small Hipster fits perfectly. I have not detected noises while wearing, but I don't normally wear skirts/dresses during that time of the month. As a fun side note, my husband has bled on the sheets from various scrapes since I got these, but I have not even had leaks onto PJ's overnight.
Perfect protection!

I got the hipster 2 pack in XL. I wear a 9 in Hanes packaged underwear. I wear a 14-16 in all bottoms so I got the XL and they fit perfect. I have a round bottom and everything is contained. They should fit well formed to prevent leaks but not so tight they're uncomfortable. They are a smooth spandex material, not cotton. Very comfy and they look just like regular hipsters. I'm wearing them right now with nothing else on my period and I feel dry even when I feel a flow pick up. I wear a size 2 Lunette which is supposed to hold 30ml and I change it about every 6-8 hours. I bought these for a backup for leaks or if I'm unable to change when I'm out. I decided to just bleed into these on their own to test their effectiveness. These hold up my heavy flow for about 4-6 hours and on my regular and light days I just wear these and change twice a day. They wash well. Rinse in cold water in your sink or tub, squeeze out excess then either hand wash or wash on warm or cold by themselves or with your colors. I wash mine with my towels. No bleach, I like to use a cup of hydrogen peroxide with regular laundry detergent to help avoid blood stains. I highly advise against fabric softener as it interferes with the wicking fabrics abilities so that's why I wash with towels because I am a downy fanatic. Use a dryer sheet instead! You can certainly use these and only these instead of pads or tampons, I do sometimes. If you flow heavy I'd say change every 5 hours. If you flow light you'll probably only have to change twice a day. I'd say get 4 pairs to last a cycle, maybe 6 if you flow very heavy. As a backup for other options, two is fine. There is no odor when you wear them, my pants didn't smell or anything. They work amazing, no leaks if you get the right size and KNOW your flow! They have complete front to back protection! They don't make any noise and they're about as thick as a pantyliner. I love them and I've now competent elimanted pads from my life. It's perfect as an only option or as a backup for days you can't get your cup in or just need some extra support from leaks. I would rate the absorbency as the equivalent to one Always, orange heavy overnight pad FULLY used or a small 25ml menstrual cup. I washed the used panties with a white towel on cold and not a trace of red so it's safe to wash with your clothes! (I included a picture of the freshly machine wash undies with the white towel I washed them with) It's so amazing to just take off your panties and pull on some new ones, no wipes, no mess. I even smelled the outside after I took them off and there is no odor, so don't worry about others smelling you! It's your dirty little secret.
Better than the competitor at half the cost

You get a two-pack for the price a popular competitor charges for just one piece. And these are better for one key reason: the absorbent part of the undies goes all the way up in the back. This means that no matter what you are doing, including sleeping, taking a transatlantic flight, etc., you don't have to worry that a change in your position will leave you vulnerable. These panties have way more coverage area than a pad. I use them as a backup to my Diva Cup, instead of pads. I would not use them as my only protection except on a day I know will be light. But for example on a recent trip, I knew my period would arrive any day. It was comfortable and easy to just start wearing these as my daily underwear until it arrived. Once it arrived, there was no worry about overnight leaks as long as I was also using my Diva. And then once it was on its way out, back to using the undies on their own. I actually now have 10 pairs of them which means I can go through not only my period but also those uncertain couple of days before and after, even if I'm traveling and unsure when I can do laundry.

One quick note about laundering them: I recommend either doing them on their own or in a load that is not over-full. They will not stain your other clothes but you want them to have room to be moving around and getting fully cleaned. And then you will need to hang dry them, and it may take two days. So you do need to plan accordingly. This is no different from other brands offering the same type of undies. It can be helpful to dry them inside-out. In a pinch, drying them on low heat in a dryer or over a radiator is OK, but you want to do that sparingly to avoid damaging the elastic and the plastic layers that prevent leaks.

Fit: I got the xxl and it fits perfectly. I have a 41-inch waist and 49-inch hips.

These undies have quite literally changed my life, and have made my period something bearable again. Highly recommended.
Leak proof and comfortable

I had these for about four years and they have worked great! I use them with pads or tampons not just by their selves but some people say you can I just chose not to. If you work out a lot they do hold heat and sweat so I would say have multiple pairs so you can take one to the gym and change after if your going to work. I also like how I still feel sexy when I'm on my period, cause being 46 your goal in life is to stay sexy lol!!
