This is a value set of markers in 5 values from black to very light grey. There is also a cold grey mid value marker. I use them for making value studies in 3x4 size to help with composition before I start the actual painting. I use them in a 65lb Canson sketch book and never have an issue with the pens over-saturating the paper or damaging the paper. There is no odor. Acid free water base. and i would recommend you buy the felt tip pens with the brush, these are also great too, Felt Tip Pens - Dual tips 1.0mm&0.5mm fine medium 10pcs/color pen marker multifunctional pigment liner ink pen fiber tipped sketch drawing archival sign pens (10pcs black+10pcs blue +10pcs red)
New Fan of Tombow!

I have purchased so many different markers lately. My granddaughter and I love to color. I have the Staedtler Johanna Basford Triplus Fineliner Pens for Adult Coloring Books and Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, Soft Core. Sharpies big and small and ultra fine point. BIC Marking Permanent Marker Fashion Colors, Ultra Fine Point, Assorted Colors. Write Dudes Ultra Fine-Point Infinity pens, 8 Count, which are really really good for pens but not nearly enough colors. All that aside these Tombow are to die for!!! I could not be more exited with the quality and the fluid flow onto paper. I have found that paper in coloring books are as big a key as the marker. I have severe arthritis in my hands and found that pencils need to be pressed harder to color the area without leaving the white paper showing. Too hard on my hands and I love Staedtler pencils but Prismacolor is a deeper cover quality. Copic markers are the very top of the line and I love them but can't afford them since I am NOT a real artist that is producing my own work. I'm simply coloring for fun but its no fun when some markers bleed so heavy or some pull the paper up. Sharpies are great especially the ultra fine point but not enough colors. Bic bleeds outward so it will bleed over the line if not careful. To me Staedtler and Johanna's stuff is way over rated and now so commercialized that the quality seems to have gone down and my recent purchase of Staedtler Duo color Markers was disappointing.. Stabilo Point 68 is a really good brand for those tiny hard to get areas and the colors are wonderful. Faber-Castel is affordable and mostly pretty good with the pitt artist brush, slightly expensive but a lot less than copic. They have a kids quality marker that is good as for my granddaughter. But all in all after trying these awesome Tombow I ordered more sets in different colors and can not wait for them to arrive. They are the best
and was not disappointed! They are incredibly pigmented

I purchased these after seeing several well known artists utilize them, and was not disappointed! They are incredibly pigmented, but easy to work with. I use them for handlettering and calligraphy and they flow smoothly and are perfect for people starting to hand letter or just looking to draw with quality brush pens. I'm very impressed, and would definitely repurchase.
and so far they are amazing. I will be using these primarily for hand ...

I got this pack and the bright pack, and so far they are amazing. I will be using these primarily for hand lettering, and I'm currently just learning, but the lines are so smooth, and the brush end goes back into shape so nicely! I've had one other brush tip pen, and it quickly got "bent out of shape."
Great markers for the price, but know how to use them by doing research before purchase.

There seems to be some misunderstanding about how to use these markers, and as a result, some discontent with them that I feel is unfair and misinformed. These are nothing like your alcohol based markers. Those lovely blendable copics are an entirely different thing, and these will not do if you are just looking for a cheaper alternative to Copics. these are water based markers. This means they will ruin weak paper. You will need paper that is built to withstand a bit more, and you will also need to know how to use these markers. For best results, you will need a palette that you can blend colors on. You blend by adding one color to the palette(you cannot blend by using the blender pen directly on color you've already applied to paper), then the other, and mixing those colors together on the palette itself. From there, you can use the blender pen to load your newly blended color onto and then paint it onto the paper. When you are done with the color, wipe the colorless blender on scratch paper--care for the tip of the brush. Using light applications of color as I've described, I use these markers to add color to my sketches on 65 lb sketchbook paper. It may show on the other side, but the way I use it, it hasn't bled through. It's essentially watercolor in a marker. You must remember that. You must be careful not to purchase duplicates--as many packs do contain duplicates. I purchased the primary and secondary packs with no duplicates, and with just those two and a palette, it's quite hard to find a color you can't make or don't already have. I read some advice about these markers that stated that the felt tip of them would hold to a lot of abuse, but don't listen to this advice. Do not abuse your marker tip.
As I've said, these are fine markers for a good price, but do know how to use them before making the purchase. I've enclosed a partly colored sketch, nothing amazing, but just to give an example of how these markers look.
