I like the shape of this coffee measure spoon & tamper and particularly the heavier base (tamper), which makes it stand on the counter without tipping easily. The size of the scoop and the tamper are just right for my espresso maker. The welding on my unit is done well. But I can see that, if the welding process has some dirt present, the welds could be easily compromised (referring to other reviewers' unfortunate experiences). Perhaps a careful examination of the tool should be done before it's used. It would not occur to me to press on the scoop while tamping the coffee charge into the strainer of the espresso maker. While elegant, the design is obviously not strong enough for that. Holding the tamper by its stem should provide more than sufficient pressure to compress the coffee grounds. I am reordering this scoop/tamper for my second espresso maker.

Bought this to replace the plastic scoop/tamper that came with my espresso machine. The tamper fits perfectly in my machine's coffee holder. The scoop's volume is a little less than the scoop that came with my machine but it is easy to compensate by adding a little more coffee. Overall, I am very happy with this product.

Exactly what you need for scooping and properly compressing espresso grounds. Very strong with none of the flex that can springboard an espresso filter across the room if you're not careful.
Had some minor issues with grounds sticking to the compression plate, especially when using beans with a high oil content. I applied some non-stick spray and solved the issue. Reapply as needed.

We got this for our cheap Mr. Coffee espresso maker, and I was really happy with it. When I first opened it I was worried it wouldn't fit in the grounds thingy but it works perfectly! I feel so fancy every time I tamp my grounds. Quite pleased with this tamper. It seems pretty sturdy, so hopefully it will last a while. :)
