These blades started off ok but while using the knife in a potato, the blade came out of the handle. The set is sharp but not for repeated uses. I will continue to look for a better quality set. And replace the pairing knife that broke free from the handle.

These knives are amazing. At first I was skeptical, especially with the pizza knife. I have come to love it! The pizza knife kind of rocks back and forth and slices right through the thickest of crusts. Each knife has stayed sharp since the first use and I have had them for 2 months now. The sharpener works well, but I have only had to use it once because I thought I dulled a knife after hitting metal. The kitchen scissors cut very nicely and I havent had problems with them cutting anything from plastic to cloth. I love the peeler because it leaves behind lines in what you are peeling making it easier to grip while peeling.
I was worried about the stand, especially when putting it together. It came with very easy to read directions and pictures on how to put each knife into the slots.

A few months ago I had a traumatic experience occur, I only say that so this review makes sense. I have had to replace about 75% of everything I owned and our cutlery was one. After looking at several sets and taking into account that I have much more to buy we decided to give this set a try.

Now to begin with this was purchased for $35.00 so we didn't expect Shun quality knives. I expected decent knives that will work for the time being, until I can purchase a better set. Thus, I am quite surprised with them, the knives are quite sharp and seem to hold there edge well. We are vegans so we have only used them on fruits and vegetables yet they don't need constant sharpening and they make quick work of everything we have cooked.

Now don't get me wrong, I do have some complaints. For starters, the knives feel really light in the hand. I don't know if this is a personal thing or not, but I prefer a knife to have some heft, so that is one issue and possibly the one I will over time have the most issue with. Another issue is the lack of a honing rod. That omission is annoying as I am required to use the included sharpener which while a nice addition slows me down. Lastly in the complaints, is the storage 'arc. Don't get me wrong, it is rather visually appealing, but I find it impractical as you can't set it under a cabinet and leave it there. You have to leave it out in the open, which I get it, it's supposed to be decorative. I just personally find it irksome.

Yet, I still give this set 4 stars, because it isn't trying to be something it is not. This is a good cutlery set, it will if you take care of it, last you for a good amount of time. (Don't put them In the dishwasher, clean them soon after use. Etc. Etc.). For the price I dont think you can go wrong. If you're just starting out or starting over, this set will not disappoint you.

Nice set of knives. The set comes with 6 steak knives, a chef knife, bread knife, carving knife, cheese knife & pizza knife. It also comes with a pair of scissors, peeler, and knife sharpener.

The knives come sharp & the dark color is beautiful. I haven't used the sharpener yet, but the knives them selves are nice. Each knife is individually wrapped & the handles are solid, but not heavy. So far, they've been everything I need right now. I keep them in a drawer, so not to take up more counter space, but for the value, I'm glad I got this set.

Definitely a unique set, but great knives! It took us a while to figure out where we were going to put this since its not a traditional knife block, but we ended up putting it beside our fridge because the colors match really well and its more of an eye-catcher than anything else. However, we do use the knives daily and are VERY happy with the quality. Ive had traditional knife blocks that have ruined my knives because of no air flow when they are drying from being washed but this stand solves the problem and we are going to end up with a lot more use of these knives than we've had before.
