These pruners work great! They are very sharp, large and strong enough to cut 3/4" branches and have a good spring opening them back up after cutting. I really like the latch that keeps them closed. It works quickly and smoothly. They fit my smaller hand nicely, but could easily accomidate a much larger hand. They were surprisingly cheap (an Amazon Warehouse deal) and will be replacing a much more expensive pair that I bought locally. I would buy them again even at the full price.

This bypass pruner easily cut bamboo branches 1/4" thick. It cuts clean through, no crushing or bending, or passing sideways through the bypass. The position lock is well designed; it keeps the shears closed, is easy to switch, and is firmly fastened. It says out of the way when the pruner is open.

I had a small problem with pinching (not cutting) the skin between my thumb and forefinger on the strong and highly polished but sharp expansion spring. However, this problem does not arise if you keep your fingers on the comfortable finger-shaped indentations in the indicated places.

I've used it for about an hour altogether. But when I prune, I prune for exercise. So I prune continuously and I'm looking for the largest branches consistent with not bending the shears.

I've also bought earlier several highly rated fiskars anvil and bypass pruners. The Fiskars are weaker and flimsier than these; the Fiskars are also considerably more expensive. These shears are fabulously better than the low-end bypass hand pruner I bought from Home Depot in one of their "never heard of this brand" specials.

Update, 8/25/2018: I looked more carefully in the package before discarding the envelope. I found there an explicit promise of a gift in exchange for an "honest 5 star review". Amazon reviews are one of the main reasons I buy from Amazon. Bribing reviewers undercuts that value. I continue to enjoy using these excellent pruners, but the note certainly left a bad taste.

I've owned about 5 pairs of shears in the last couple of years, trying to find a pair that will cut easily, fit nicely in the hand and stand up to corrosion. I don't know yet if these shears are near the top of the list (full disclosure, I don't buy $50 garden shears. I prefer to pay less than $15 since my wife tends to leave them out in the rain). So far, these shears seem sharp and able to cut through the various plants and branches I regularly trim in my yard. The finish seems resistant to corrosion (we'll see long-term), and, unlike some shears, they don't bind when the blade moves back and forth past the other half of the cutting section. I like the locking mechanism. At least it holds. Half of mine do not reliably lock. My hands are on the small side, so the handles, which are a little thicker than my others, are a little hard to keep ahold of, meaning they open pretty wide for my hands. It's got a nice, strong spring to re-open the shears after cutting something. The spring's not going to fall out, either, unlike some other shears. So, to recap, for the price, I'm very happy so far with minor reservations.

For the price I was afraid they wouldn't be sharp or have some other drawback. But, they are in fact quite lovely to use. For instance the locking mechanism, that black thing on the top, can be easily moved with ones thumb. They pop open after each cut, easily. The pruners I had before these required me to stop and manually help the spring open the pruners.

They have a neat little wrist thing, so that you can let them dangle if something interrupts.

When they arrive there's an offer for a free gift if you give a 5 star review. I've always wanted to be one of the people given an offer like that. The thing is, I would have given a 5 star review with no incentive. But, this made me do it faster ... :-)

I might have given this pruner a five-star rating, but it came with a promise of a gift from the seller if I did, so I started thinking of all the reasons I might not. These are among the better pruners I've had, and I just spent an hour or so cutting through a lot of thick weeds (mostly thistles) that were threatening to take over an area of the yard. They're quite comfortable and cut half inch thick weeds and evergreen branches with ease. On the other hand I was alternating cutting and pulling, and international orange handles would have made the pruner easier to find after I put it down to pull weeds and I did once have a pruner that felt even better in my hand. Finally the blades are not replaceable.
