Great bottle. Make sure not defective.

Great water bottles. I love the insulating qualities. Ice can last for 24 hours if you start with putting cold water from the fridge in with the ice. If you start with only room temperature water straight from the tap, a good portion of the ice melts immediately. That's nothing to do with the insulating qualities.
I also bought this bottle over other bottles due to the double cap. Remove the whole cap to fill with ice and water. Remove the small cap to drink from. It's most like a disposable water bottle cap which is the easiest to drink from in my opinion. Never any leaks with the good seals when you lightly tighten down both caps.
The only reason I lowered this review to 4 star was because of this....I bought four of these bottles. Two 40oz and two 24oz. I noticed that one of the bottles(24oz..irrelevant) was not keeping ice nearly as long as the other three. I also notice the outside of the bottle was a little colder to the touch than the others. You should not be able to feel virtually any cold on the outside of a properly insulating bottle. It was also melting nearly twice as fast as the others under the same conditions. I decided to return it to amazon as defective and repurchased the same water bottle once again. The new one I received was just as good as the other three I bought previously. That would be my only complaint. If you feel it's not keeping ice for what you feel is long enough you may have a defective unit. I realize you may have nothing to compare to side by side but regardless, that may be the problem. Hope this helps. Thanks
HEY MOMS - the 24 oz water bottle fits in your kids backpack pockets YAY!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!! I say that 3 times for the 3 water bottles I bought. My kids are aged 8,9, and 11. We live in Arizona and taking water to school is an absolute must! We have used the thermos funtainer 16 oz for years and have absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, as they have gotten older they just are not big enough to get them through the day without filling them up several times at school. We saw these at Target when back to school shopping and we almost bought the 18 oz bottles and I decided against it because that actually is not much bigger than what we already had. The kids buying plastic disposable water bottles at school sort of defeats the purpose of having these nice reusable water bottles. They also have the added benefit of keeping water cold unlike plastic! I thought I would check Amazon to see if they were available and we stumbled upon the 24 oz. which we had not seen in stores! As much as we wanted the new colors the price of the originals were great so we went with those. I would have ordered a size bigger but I really wanted something that would still fit in the side pocket of their backpacks and these DO!! I was so happy that we could find a bigger water bottle but not have to carry it in their hands all day (that is how they get lost and they are heavy for kids when they are full). I will recommend this water bottle to all of my mom friends! Keeping my kids hydrated is so important, thanks for a great product!
I love my 24 oz Takeya water bottle

I love my 24 oz Takeya water bottle. I got the 40 oz version as a gift, but while it holds a lot of water, it was too big. I ordered the 24 oz because it is the largest size before the width increases (to 32 and 40 oz widths). The 24 oz fits in my car's cup holder and my hiking fanny pack.

The Takeya bottle still has ice after 24 hours from the time I fill it up with water and ice. The ambient room temperature is around 80 degrees so that's pretty awesome. I haven't tried a hot liquid so no comment on heat performance.

The reason I prefer Takeya over other brands (like Hydro Flask) is because the mouth is wide, the lid has a separate screw-on drinking sprout, and the carry handle swings out of the way. I read that the Takeya lid fits the Hydro Flask bottle and when I tried it on my niece's Hydro Flask, it screwed on perfectly! (So Hydro Flask owners can just purchase a Takeya lid separately if they want to.)

Two caveats. The Takeya lid has two white rubber rings (one for the lid and one for the drinking sprout). Be careful when washing that the rubble rings don't come out and get lost, because you will get water leaks due to improper seals. And depending on how you hold the bottle when drinking, the drinking cap or carry handle could swing back down and hit you on the cheek or nose. Just hold the bottle with the carry handle down when drinking to avoid the surprise.
A great water bottle after buying 20+ different types

I'm completely OCD about water bottles.

PROS: Good insulation, has a cap and handle. Quality build.
No weird smells - as found in some cheap insulated water bottles.
Easy to clean unlike Contigos where 'gunk' can get difficult to clean.

CONS: Somewhat difficult to grip if you have small hands an doesn't fit in your car cup-holder.

I have gone through Stanleys, generic knock offs, Contigos, etcs and have found this gem. Takeya caught my eye when I bought their glass water bottle and you can tell this bottle is well built. Quality Japanese manufacturing when you pick this baby up. It has a covered cap over the spout, and a well integrated carrying handle. My wife and bike all year and we needed a good insulated bottle - we had a Stanley, but it couldnt' maintain insulation given their claimed hours. This water bottle keeps water and ice cold and is big enough for an all day ride.

The only complaint I would have is it's a very wide circumference bottle. We both don't have the largest hands so it's awkward to grip, but the performance is great. Another thing that may be a killer feature missing is IT DOESNT FIT car cup holders. For us personally this is not an issue since we stash this bottle into our backpacks. My wife and I biked in 100 degree with 65% humidity and our water is always cold and icey.

The quality is there, but there may be a few features for you to consider before buying.
