Vibrant & Affordable Watercolors

I ordered the 24 color set. I recently got back into watercolor painting and figured I'd get a cheap set to see if I stick with it long enough to buy a W&N set. I don't have any urge to go buy the W&N set now! I regret not getting the larger Bianyo set and wish they sold the metallics separately.
- The packaging! Omg, it's so lovely! The paper that comes with it is too lightweight for my taste, but a nice addition regardless. I can pack up the tin and take it anywhere. I would totally buy this as a gift, it looks so nice. I don't even need the chipboard box it came in but don't want to throw it away either. XD
- Others have mentioned that these are smelly and they're correct. It's not awful but they have a stronger smell than any other watercolor I've used.
- Highly pigmented colors. The darker colors have more granulation, but it distributes nicely on the cold-press I use which has a very smooth tooth.
- These are rather opaque, which could be good or bad depending on how you work. I tend to work in glazes, but I found a water paint balance that works for me.
- The colors mix well. Burnt sienna + ultramarine instead of using the black, for example.
- You can mix the white with a bit of any other color for a gouache effect. (See the rim lighting and some of the highlights in the photos)
- No chalky finish! Super surprising at this price point. The colors dry vibrant.
- I figured I'd immediately toss the brush it comes with, but gave it and try and am keeping it! The example photos were largely done with this brush.
- Bianyo doesn't provide any light-fastness information. I do not sell my originals so this isn't an issue for me but it may be to others.
(The examples are done on Canson 140lb cold press watercolor paper.)

Love this little set! I am an amateur painter, i mostly sculpt but i have been trying water color lately. Great color and dries nicely. Included picture of test/experiments i did before trying an actual piece.
Meh.

These are okay. Nothing special. I find the finish to be rather chalky and they aren't super pigmented. I find them best to use as a base for layering your watercolors. I then use the Koi brand watercolors on top of them to give really vibrant color. I probably would not repurchase these. The Koi brand is much better and the pricing is very similar. Please note I have no affiliation to either brand. This is just my honest opinion.

These are good for anyone who is learning or has just started to experiment with watercolors. The paint is cheap, thin, and instantly gets absorbed by the paper, no matter its quality and does not have that nice watery look when applied. If you are experienced with this medium, this brand will disappoint you. But they're easy to carry around, so you can easily travel with the small case.
