Key features

  • INSTANT SUCCESS - That's what we want kids to experience on the Strider 14x Sport. We've assembled all the necessary ingredients to give your tyke a taste of confidence, so your little racer can successfully shift from riding a balance bike to pedaling like a pro as quickly as possible. Why? Because the success your child experiences when they ride a Strider begins building confidence they'll use for life.
  • GROWS WITH YOUR CHILD - If your mini-me is sprouting faster than a weed amped up on fertilizer, the 14X is the bike for you. The adjustable seat and handlebars accommodate ages 3 to 7 years, or inseams ranging from 16 - 23", so your little one always has a bike that fits.
  • DESIGNED FOR KIDS - The lightweight frame weighs only 12 pounds (pre-pedals), making it easy for your child to handle. The footrests are perfect for learning to balance and glide until they're ready for pedals, which can be easily attached when the time comes.
  • COMFORTABLE AND SAFE: The chain guard prevents cuts and scrapes and helps keep the chain mud-free. The padded seat and soft handlebar grips offer extra comfort, so your kids can ride all day (because you know they'll want to).
  • MADE TO LAST BIKE KIT - Kids can be hard on things. The 14x's durable steel frame is designed to last for years. The all-adventure rubber tires are compatible with standard bike pumps, making maintenance a breeze.

Great convertible bike for my short 3 year old
Mike Gardner✓ Verified PurchaseJune 5, 2018
My 3 year old is on the shorter side (, and had been cruising on a 12" Strider for quite some time. We had a 12" bike that was a little to tall for him to get started comfortably, despite being physically ready to ride a pedal bike without training wheels. I found this when looking for a 12-14" bike that would have a lower stand-over height so he would be comfortable getting started as he transitioned. We left it as a balance bike for a few weeks, then one afternoon he came to me and asked me to put the pedals on. It took about 10 minutes to convert the bike, and was very simple and straight forward. My little guy stood over it at the top of our driveway, and within moments he was off and pedaling..without any additional help from me. He can now also ride the taller 12" bike we already had, and his brothers 16" bike. Strider has done a great job designing a flexible convertible bike, and I am glad that I bought it. My only regret is that I wish I had found it 6-9 months sooner, so my son could have started riding sooner.
Instant Success with 3 year old

Wow, this bike is amazing. My daughter started on the Strider 12 Sport only a month ago, but mastered it quickly and was begging for pedals. I was hesitant because I thought she surely needed more practice. So I thought this would be a good investment. If the pedals didn't work out, she could just get use to the frame and size of the 14x as a balance bike first. Well, within 10 minutes she had this bike figured out and was cruising the neighborhood with the pedals. It is well-designed and intuitive for kids who have been using balance bikes. Can't recommend this enough! Here she is riding at 3 years, 2 months
Since we've got our 12" Strider balance bike and were absolutely happy with it - comfortable

I was a big fan of Strider. Since we've got our 12" Strider balance bike and were absolutely happy with it - comfortable, lightweight, useful and joyful for kid. The best kids vehicle for a long walks. My daughter at her 3 yr can easily balance and make tricks and she has been ready to try pedal bike. When i saw this model 14" with pedals I was excited, i bought it, barely read the specs and comments, and... disappointed! HEAVY! 20 pounds! really? My daughter can ride it with assistance... But, considering that this pedal bike is three times heavier than her balance bike - no any fun to ride it...
In my opinion - not for 3 yr old...
Great bike but kid doesn't love it.

It's a great balance bike. Easy to put together. Very good looking. Very fast shipping. I researched long and hard what to get for my 4 yo and had three finalists: Go Glider 2-in-1 (too many bad reviews) and Ridgeback (too expensive for just a balance bike and probably too big) in addition to this. She received her first balance bike for her 2nd birthday. It was a 10 inch Puky from Germany. She was scared and didn't look at it for almost two years. About 6 weeks ago in Feb 2018, she picked it up and went for it. She had a blast racing down the driveway and we easily did our 1 mile loop through the neighborhood at a decent speed. However, it was WAYYYY too small by now, hence, the search for the next size up for her 4th birthday (end of March).

She just turned 4 but wears a size 6 and has a 19inch inseam. She says she loves it but she does not enjoy riding it. It's been two weeks now and we encourage her every day to practice but she is done after one or two times down the driveway. She was very excited to take it on our 1 mile loop the first day but made it only a quarter mile. I am not sure what it is but she looks uncomfortable on it. We have lots of room for adjustments in height but to me it seems like the handlebar is too far to reach. I know it may take getting used to longer and I don't want to push her too hard but this wasn't cheap so I am quite bummed. So I am more or less giving my kid 4 instead of 5 stars rather than the bike but it's just not a fit for every single kid. I will update if it changes....
Great sturdy bike

Bought this for Christmas for my 3 yr old and he loves it! We are super impressed so far. I love that it's so adjustable and feels so sturdy. My son has ridden a tricycle and had a strider balance bike for the last couple years so it took him about an hour to take off on this bike with no issues. It did take him a few weeks to get comfortable enough on the bike to try out the brakes and get good at them. The only issue we've had is the pedals have come off twice recently. It may just be my husband didn't tighten them enough...we'll see. I do wish it came with a kickstand but maybe there isn't room to put one on. The only other thing was my son needed a bell so we had to buy the separately. I'm so glad they made the 14x as my son is tall for his age but will still hopefully get a few years of use out of this bike.
