Bulky and built to last

I bought this for my old Gerber MP800 when my nylon sheath finally wore a hole through it. I wanted something simple and sturdy, but nice enough to wear to work. It fit my MP800 perfectly. Some things you should know before you buy.

Good: This sheath is very simple and looks built to last. The leather is thick and stiff, and seems quality. There is no stitching, it's built with rivets and a snap closure. It should handle the beating that a multi-tool sheath takes for many years. The look is low key, stylish and quality, and looks good with jeans or slacks. The belt "loop" (actually just a large leather strip riveted to the back of the tool pouch) is very large, and handles even wide leather belts without issue.

Bad: This is personal preference, but the sheath design rides high on the belt. This can make it hard to get comfortable, especially when sitting, and is a bit different from other sheaths. The open seam at the back of the tool pouch gets caught sometimes when threading the belt through the "loop", so you have to be a bit careful putting the sheath on.

Overall, this is pretty much exactly what I wanted. I expect it to last for many years, and I can't wait to see how the leather ages as it breaks in.
Well made, stiff leather, very tight snap closure

Great sheath, and as other reviewers noted, the seam in the back does interfere slightly when inserting the belt, but it's easily dealt with some tilting of the sheath when inserting the belt. So far (~6 weeks) it has held up great and seem to be breaking in nicely.
I have been shopping for a good sheath for years now.

This sheath has been the best I have found so far. Hopefully the last one I buy. I have been looking for and buying sheaths for about the last 10 years. I have tried just about every sheath out there that is mass produced. All different types of sheathes made from any materials. All to come back to an old school approach. Single piece of good quality leather. The leather is in fact good quality. I have read some reviews that say it is too thick. Umm.. I honestly wish is was thicker. It is about the same thickness as other leather sheaths I have, Leatherman heritage for example. But the leather quality is the best I have felt on any sheath so far. To be fair it is also more expensive. Then we have the (for the black color sheath) nickel coated brass rivets. Which for me was a big selling point. The brass is better for my needs than the uncoated copper I have seen competitors use. I am really hopping that the rivet style construction will hold up longer than any of the stitched style sheathes I have had. Only time will tell. The snap closer works exactly like it should. Not loose, not too hard. Defined snap. Now for the belt loop. My main concerns with this sheath were the belt loop hight and putting it on the belt (I saw so many review complaints, it actually kept me from purchasing this sheath the first time I saw it.) The height is only very slightly higher than the stock leatherman nylon sheathes. And I mean, only slightly. After the break period it rides about the same exact height as the Leatherman nylon sheathes. If you have some love handles like me.. it won't jab into you. Very comfortable actually. The second part regarding the belt insertion. It is not hard to put on your belt at all. Yes it does catch on the split part of the leather because this sheath is made from one single piece. But you can defeat it very easily and without annoyance by just pressing down slightly with your fingertips while putting the belt through the loop. And I do it while wearing pants and putting the half way on so I cap put the sheath on my left side. So no issue there. The tool fitment. I bought this sheath for a Leatherman super tool 300. It fit perfectly. Not snug, and not loose. Perfectly. You have to put the tool in with the less thick part first. Which is not the way I wanted to carry my tool at first, but it worked so well, I made a change. It also fits my Leatherman surge well. No complaints there either. This sheath is a good buy. I have no clue how long it will last, but I hope that it is my last sheath. If this one lasts, I plan on buying more for my other tools. I have already bought a riveted wallet from this brand as well. Short mini review. Not as refined as the sheath but still nice and worth it.
Great replacement
