not too strong
Thomas M. Sipos✓ Verified PurchaseJanuary 5, 2018
The taste is mild, the scent not strong.

The ingredients are (cold-brewed) coffee and water. That's it. No sugar or anything else. Just coffee.

The label describes the coffee as made with "a premium blend of beans specially selected to brew without heat, creating a taste that's smooth with subtle cocoa notes and balanced flavors."

Well, this coffee does taste mild, so I guess the label is correct in calling it "smooth." But what's with the "subtle cocoa notes"? Do they mean chocolate? I didn't notice any chocolatey flavor. Nor any "balanced flavors," whatever that's supposed to mean.

Overall this is a very mild coffee. It's conveniently packaged. Keep it in the refrigerator, and screw off the cap when you're ready.
Cocoa/honey = strong but sweet

First off, you really need to like cold brew coffee first. Generally speaking it is usually very bold but also very smooth, it's strong without any of the bitterness of heat-brewed dark roast. To me, it's a refreshing way to get caffeinated without overdoing it on soda. And it goes darn well with a cookie!

Although it is served cold, if you're expecting a Frappuccino or the old bottles Starbucks Mocha, this will not be anywhere sweet enough to your liking. It's lighter in texture and much stronger tasting.

On the flip side, if you're accustomed to strong cold brew, this will be VERY very sweet. I could be happy with just the cocoa and about half the honey. It's delicious, don't get me wrong, but the sugar does raise the calorie count and makes it feel a little heavier than it needs to be. It's a nice treat but isn't going to replace your regular cup of coffee.

Also, holy cow is it EXPENSIVE! All bottled cold brew is pretty pricey but damn! I will not be adding this to my regular grocery list, but I'd still get a bottle as a treat from time to time while I'm out & about.
Smooth, mellow taste but lacking for those who like a stronger coffee

This review is for the unflavored coffee.

Update: Since the original review, I have continued to drink the Starbuck's Cold Brew Coffee and its flavor has grown on me. I would still prefer a stronger brew, but the glass containers of coffee are great for portability and I have been enjoying the taste.

Original Review: I make my own cold brew coffee and I enjoy the coffee syrup's smooth taste for hot drinks, cold drinks and even on ice cream. But, there are times I don't want to wait a day for the coffee to be made and so I was keen to try the Starbucks cold brew coffee.

The flavor of the Starbucks cold brew coffee is mellow as expected. However, I found that the strength of the coffee is weak. I drink my coffee black and find that the Starbucks cold brew coffee lacks a lot of flavor. While I am sure this was done to appeal to a wider range of coffee drinkers, it leaves out those of us who like a stronger brew.

The glass bottles are a good size portion wise for drinking the coffee on the go.

Overall, this is a mice cold brew coffee, but for the strength and flavor I like in my cold brew, I will stick with my home made brew.
ugghhh why is this so good? Probably the 21g of sugar

ugghhh why is this so good? Probably the 21g of sugar? Nevertheless, it is delicious. It does have a little of that Starbucks bitter coffee flavor, but mostly it reminds me of the Starbucks cold vanilla frappucinos you can buy at grocery stores/gas stations etc. but not quite as creamy. It is pretty smooth and I like it straight from the bottle right out of the fridge. Good product, attractive packaging, probably won't drink regularly though because I don't think it's that great for me haha

Ingredients: cold-brewed Starbucks coffee (water, coffee), skim milk, sugar, cream, cocoa, sea salt, honey
A Tasty, Portable Coffee Drink

I confess that I'm not a big fan of Starbucks coffee. I think that it's kind of bitter and definitely overpriced. That said, I could drink this cold brew pretty frequently, especially if the cost was a little more reasonable. At about $3 a bottle, it will be a guilty splurge once in a while.

It is tasty and a nice lift for the afternoon slump. The coffee flavor is kind of strong (for me) but smoothed out with the cocoa, honey, and cream. I suppose that I could become addicted if I let myself, like with chocolate, as it's quite enjoyable. At 140 calories, 40 of those from fat, it's almost like a small chocolate bar. I wish that, at least, it didn't have the 170 mg of sodium. The ingredients are natural, which is a plus.

It needs to be refrigerated after opening, if you don't finish the bottle. I don't see that happening with mine.

I like this a lot but rate it only 4 stars, deducting one star for the price and nutrition.
