You will be happy with this purchase. The Vaultek VR10 holds almost exactly a Glock 19, three magazines, and a speed loader, which should give you some idea of the size. It comes with everything you'd want: Security cable, two keys, Lithium Ion battery already charged, charging cable, mounting screws, extra battery compartment screw in case you lose one, and clear instructions. That would be great for most gun safes at this price.

However, the compelling thing here are the electronic features. This has a smartphone app with which you can open your various Vaultek safes, see the battery life, adjust the brightness of the interior light, and it notifies you if the safe has been tampered with. The keypad has 5 backlit buttons, numbered 1-5, and allows a 4-8 digit security code. It reacts instantly, and backlights when your hand comes close to or touches the unit. It locks securely with pins on both ends of the lid.

Using the keypad, you can also check various functions; battery life, toggling sound on/off, tampering, etc. I like that it has a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, which is so much better than regular batteries. Comes with the charging cable and a port on the outside of the VR10. The bluetooth is paired through the app, not the phone's bluetooth settings.

The VR10 has a substantial feel to it, a healthy weight, as though no corners were cut in the manufacturing. If I had any complaint, and it is hard to find one, I would question that the battery indicator on the keypad shows 75% charged while the App says 100% charged. Even with that, this just seems like a superior product to the cheaper safes out there, offering so many more features, and giving you everything you need in one package. It is clear that Vaultek is working hard to create a great product.

Has everything I wanted -- rechargeable battery and long battery life, not too many whistles and bells, lid pops up automatically when unlocked, and has a light inside. Holds my little Kahr 9mm and two magazines nicely. I wanted a second security cable for my car (I keep this safe by my bed most of the time) and had to order it directly from VAULTEK, but they responded right away and I got a 6 foot cable to boot. Very well made, and exactly what I needed to secure my pistol at home and while out and about with it. I think I'll add some of that bumpy foam to keep my gun from sliding around when I move it, and a handle or built in grip to help carry it would be nice -- but you can't have everything!

I have owned the VAULTEK VT20 for about 5 months and have been very satisfied with the quality. I keep the Bluetooth off for added security and better battery life.

The VR10 is a new addition for on the road security. Vaultek has remove some of the interior padding on this smaller model, but the quality is still there.

I added photos with a standard sized 1911 to show some of the scale. Note the H&K USP is a tight fit on either model, but an extra magazine is not an option with the VR10, because all dimensions have been reduced.

What I really like about this safe is that it incorporated security and technology. A few features I love are:

1) Safe's keypad buttons don't beep when pressing them
2) Keypad is dark until you place your hand on top of it then the buttons illuminate
3) When code is entered, lid springs up all the way automatically allowing one hand access
4) Light inside safe turns on upon opening of lid to light up contents
5) Battery doesn't have to be removed to be recharged

Other than that the safe just looks slick. Feels secure and not flimsy. That's the safe itself. The features I like on the technology side are the app. They are:

1) App connects to safe via Bluetooth and you can remotely open the safe
2) App tells you battery life remaining
3) App gives you a history log to tell setting changes, access times, and more
4) App can change the brightness of the inner light
5) App allows you to completely silence the safe so it doesn't make a beep noise
6) App gives you a tamper alert to show if anyone has tried accessing safe

Again, this safe is really cool and for the price it isn't much more than some of the basic models offered by competitors. And I have to share a funny story. Because I can open the safe remotely with the app, I have my kids convinced that they have Jedi powers because they were "opening" the safe with their minds : )

Love this little safe! If I could find anything to complain about at all it would be the fact that to use the phone app you need to leave your Bluetooth turned on at all times which drains your cell phone battery faster. That's my only complaint though, the safe is built well, feels very heavy duty and good quality. I would recommend it to my friends.
