Excellent product. Loud. Very little distortion, even at high volume. Lasts a long time on a single charge - I've used it for several days before recharging. The unit tells you, via a voice alert, when the battery is getting low. Full recharging takes a couple hours. Connection to Bluetooth is a snap.

I have this hanging in my shower stall. It gets splashed, but not immersed, and it is completely fine.

It has a nice shape and weight. I toss it into my backpack, where it fits easily. It also fits into a cup holder so it could be used in a golf cart (not that I would ever do that - lol).

I recommend using it with the Amazon echo dot. I bring both on trips. Works great.

Great portable speaker! I'll defer to the other glowing reviews of the UE Boom 2. I just wanted to post a cautionary note for potential buyers that this version of the UE Boom 2, the "Panther Special Edition" doesn't come with the carrying case or a power supply block like you might have seen on the actual product website for the regular UE Boom 2. This particular version comes with the speaker, a mini-USB cable, and small folded instructions directing you to download the app.

The reason I'm rating this 3-stars is because of my experience with purchasing it from the Amazon Treasure Truck. Just like another reviewer, I too received a refurbished unit. The serial number on the packaging and the actual speaker unit don't match. Luckily, mine doesn't show any visible signs of wear and tear, and seems to work just fine. I just hope that I don't run in to any issues with continued use. I am disappointed that Amazon sold me a refurbished unit, albeit at a discount price. I thought I was paying for a brand new unit at a great discounted price as the tradeoff for making the trip myself to pick up the speaker from the Treasure Truck. I plan to keep the speaker, but Amazon needs to be more transparent about disclosing whether or not they are selling refurbished units to their customers! I'll be paying closer attention to my future purchases from Amazon.

I'm an audiophile and music producer. I tried this, the megaboom, and JBL Charge 3. UE BOOM 2 won first in terms of sound quality and second in terms of functional design that feels right. When I had the megaboom and ue boom 2 next to eachother there wasn't a large different in sound, their signature is very similar. Megaboom does get louder and has a sliver more low end, but that didn't outweigh the size and shape of the UE BOOM 2. It feels great in your hand, human sized, while the megaboom feels awkward and cumbersome. I also like the 360 sound of UE BOOM 2 over the directional JLB Charge 3. Sound signature is a personal taste and I'm never going to tell someone what they like is wrong, but to my ears JBL Charge 3 delivered a less accurate and less enjoyable reproduction of my favorite music. Got a winner here! Will be great if they're able to upgrade to APTXHD with a firmware fix.

I love this boom box! The sound is outstanding and better than I had expected. I listen to documentaries on Netflix or Pandora while I'm working around the house. I'm using my Samsung Galaxy s5 phone and it connects through Bluetooth with no fuss every time. It truly puts the sound out there and not just with music but also pairs well with Netflix. It states that you'll get about 15 hours on a charge which I believe - I have it pretty loud and I'm not charging it often. I had bought a triangular shaped boom box several years ago which was about 1/4 of the price but I was always fighting with it to pair or to get it to work just in general. After about 7 months it just quit working all together. Money wasted and wish I would have started with this one. It's a bit pricey but one shot and you'll be done with no regrets and it does go on sale on occasion I bought mine at the Christmas Holiday Season just the plain black and it was a bit less than normal cost.

In case anyone was wondering, there are a couple of differences from the Panther Limited Edition version of this speaker and the other versions. First of all, the speaker only comes with the USB charging cable only and no power supply (this was intentional and not a fluke). Secondly, Ultimate Ears has said that this speaker currently does not support the Amazon Alexa beta. I am not sure when or if that will change. To that same tune, it also appears that the Google Voice function does not function for me and there have been other reports of this too. I am not sure about support for Siri, I will edit later when I can test it out.
