Not a genuine Teavana product, but does what it is supposed to do

I worked in Teavana's corporate office for 3 years. I saw the various prototypes of the Perfect tea maker over 3 generations of the product.
This is NOT a Teavana product.
This is some kind of very well done knock off. It has the same dimensions but it feels completely different and Teavana NEVER would have sold a product without any sort of very well designed packaging (I am friends with the guy who used to design their packaging materials).
The product is basically identical to an actual Teavana Perfect Tea maker but it is not an actual Teavana product.
I just got it so I can not attest to its durability, yet. I am rating it 3 stars because, as of now, it does what I need it to do (steep loose leaf tea) but I am taking points off because the seller is effectively committing small scale fraud based on their use of the Teavana brand.

This is an amazing handy device for those of you who LOVE loose tea! I absolutely hate those tea balls because it seems like they always fall apart in my cup. One of my family members had one of these and I fell in love with the simplicity in using this. It is so easy! You boil your water separately, put a teaspoon or two (however strong you like your brew) of loose tea in the top, add your water, let it steep for a few minutes, and set the bottom on top of the lip of your cup and strain the liquid out. I do have to warn, be careful where you set the base of the tea maker because if you put any pressure on the plate portion, it starts releasing the liquid.
Only down side I experienced was mine cracked, but I think it was defective to begin with.

if you like loose teas or dry your own herbs for tea, this is really great. Get a nice clean cup. No need to scoop anything out of your mug. We use the same tea twice. When standing on the table or stand, nothing comes out. Pressure from being on the cup releases the tea. Downside: not easy to wash and get all the herbs out out for cleaning. so Great product in the house, but too much of a hassle for work.
Very disappointed. I an looking for a new tea maker ...

Broke after 3 months of use. The plunger snapped after trying to put it back together after taking it apart for cleaning ( i was very gentle with it). When I contacted Teavana they refused to cover it, and directed me back to amazon, which doesn't cover it. Very disappointed. I an looking for a new tea maker from another company now since I make pitchers of tea weekly for Ice tea.

Best 20$ I've ever spent, hands down. This makes the best cup of tea and is incredibly easy to clean up once you figure out how to take the screen out (just wiggle and pull). The people who gave this low reviews who complain that it's plastic, the contain itself is glass but there are plastic parts such as the lid, handle, and part of the filter. If you want 100% glass, you won't find that in a tea maker of this style. If you can stand some plastic components then I would highly recommend this tea maker, it lives up to its name!
