Does not fit small infants well
chinita✓ Verified Purchase•February 6, 2018
I bought this (cool mesh version) for a trip to Hawaii after loving the Beco Butterfly 2 we got as a hand me down. But did not use this on the trip and have only used it when the Butterfly is being washed.
My baby is currently 2 months old, about 8 pounds and 20 inches. She sits way too low compared to when she is in the Butterfly. Even though no infant insert is required for the Gemini compared to the relatively non intrusive infant insert for the Butterfly. I tried sitting her froggy and also using a receiving blanket under her bottom. Both methods did bring her a bit higher but not enough. She does not like being buried in there.
But the carrier is very lightweight and the weight distribution is good with the crisscross in the back. I like there is a forwarding facing option.
I will write another review when I try the carrier again when she is a little bit bigger. And by then it will be summer when the cool mesh may matter more.

Gave it an extra star to 4 now that my baby is bigger. She is 4 months old, 12.5 pounds and 23 inches and fits well in the carrier now. We were in Japan for a week with just this carrier on plane, train, bus, and automobile and it worked great. Walked everywhere and felt well supported. I found wearing the straps backpack style (not criss cross) more comfortable. Took a little practice to buckle the back. Able to nurse somewhat discreetly in this. Also tried side wearing which was great at restaurants so I could eat without worrying about dropping on her.
The pocket for the baby is on the smaller side compared to my Beco Butterfly and an original Ergobaby. My baby does not seem to mind now but did before.
7/1/18 addendum
I see some people complain about the cool mesh leaving marks on baby's face. I have suck/drool pads on the front and straps. These are soft cotton and help with all the drool and protects baby's skin.
Baby is almost 7 months now and we like the outward facing and back carrying as well. Hip carry not so much.

Comfortable and stylish carrier!

Love this carrier! It's easy to get on and it is hip-safe. I chose this over the Lillebaby and Ergo360 because I found it easier to get on and it is less bulky. Both baby and I are small, so the fit of the Beco is more comfortable for both of us. Plus no need for an infant insert! It's true that the ultra-secure closures can be a bit of a pain to remove, but I didn't find it to be a deal-breaker. You just kind of learn how to do it, and truthfully it's nice to know that the clasps won't accidentally come undone.
Good wicking fabric

I usually carry my babies in a sling or pouch but I felt I needed something that would wick moisture away for our hot summers in Richmond, Virginia which get in the high 90s and low 100s with high high humidity. I'm so happy with this purchase. I began using it when my son was only two weeks old and have continued- he's now three months old and 16lbs. I found in the beginning that he fit this perfectly and had no worries about whether he could breathe or not as I could easily adjust the straps to make him higher or lower depending upon where I wanted him to be. The fabric is a little rough but does not seem to bother him nor did it leave any marks on the back of his head. I find he is much cooler after removing him then when I remove him from the sling or pouch when we've been outside. I did struggle with being able to unclip the straps with the "safety feature I stretch the clasps slightly to be able to open them easier. Overall, I would recommend it- it's very comfortable.
Great carrier! Better than my other two high end carriers! So lightweight and cool for my hot natured baby!

I absolutely love this carrier. I have been through a Tula and a Lilliebaby, and this carrier is the best! It is so light and so cool for a higher end baby carrier. I purchased because my baby was overheating in the Tula with an insert, and even in a Lilliebaby airflow as bulky as it is. I am a size 18 and it fits me just fine. I was worried about the buckles as some of the other reviews said they were challenging. I have short arms and have no problem reaching around my baby with my arm supporting his back to use two hands to undo the buckles. Having the ability to cross the back straps helps my back immensely while wearing. My friends have the originally Beco Gemini and this one is much lighter. It's very versatile giving me the ability to face outward or inward in the front carry. My little man really likes to look around in busy environments, but when we are sleepy he goes right to sleep and snuggles facing inward. My baby is small for his age at only 12lbs at 4 1/2 months old and I love that I don't have to use an insert. I do feel with a tiny newborn the panel is a bit big, but I prefer a wrap anyway. GREAT GREAT carrier! So in love!
Love it!

Holy Moly, this feels great! I was looking for a carrier that would do inward and outward facing in the front. I hardly ever put my child on my back, so it is a bonus that it can be worn on the back as well. I thought that I would never give up my Baby Bjorn because it is just so simple to put on, but this one takes just a little more effort, but it is SO MUCH more comfortable! I didn't even realize that the Bjorn caused my back to ache until I used it after I had been using the Gemini for a few weeks. I had to take the Bjorn off immediately.
I love the design. I love that it makes an X across the back with the straps. I love that you can wear your baby in 3 positions.
The only thing I don't like is that is has a safety lock that requires 2 hands to unbuckle each strap. I know this is for safety when wearing your baby, but I feel like releasing the back of my child even for an instant to unbuckle the straps is unsafe, but I'm sure the developers would say otherwise. Anyway, i've gotten used to it and I cant go back to my other carrier!
