Great infrared tag game for kids and adults

I bought this set of "not lazer tag" ( but, basically lazer tag) guns and vest targets for my 8 year old nephew's and they love them. The adults had a lot of fun with them testing them out for the boys too. The option to run the target off the gun or the vests is great in that you can either go for the old lazer tag feel or just stick to one piece in the set (making it harder to cheat by covering your target). There are a lot of cool extras like switching thing up sound effects for different modes (shotgun, missile launcher, pistol and automatic) and setting yourself to certainties to prevent friendly fire. The range on these things is great, usually further than your line of sight in most backyard situations (I think the box said something like 200 yards). Overall this is a great product and I highly recommend it with one minor caveat, the battery life seems to run out very fast, maybe a half hour to 45 minutes of constant use (with each unit using 3 aaa batteries), but that's not too much different than I remember from the original Lazer Tag sets back in the 1980's. Unlike some other newer versions of this type of item, a smart phone is not required to operate or interact with other players which also increases its accessibility to younger kids for me.

I looked at another brand, and after looking at what this offered I decided on this. Bought this for a birthday gift. The laser gun and the chest plate receiver both take 3 AAA batteries. So you need 6 AAA for each total. We took them straight out the box after we figured out the gun and chest plate have to be the same led color or you'll shoot yourself. Why read the directions when your kid is shooling you on it then only to say he figured it out. Ha!! I really like these. There are plenty of sounds and other wepons modes built it. We tried the night mode with the green laser at night time. All I can say is it's pretty cool and the boy was glad I got these rather than what's in the store. These in my view are a better deal as everything you need was included. The sound from the guns speaker and chest plate is good and loud.Pop the batteries in an go have fun! Mom even got in on the action. Lots of fun. If you get these you be glad you did.

I got two sets of these so that I would have eight of them for the kids to play with. While I was testing them out (receiver within 4-5 feet) I discovered that it doesn't matter which direction you point the guns... the other teams always get shot, no matter how crappy I am. I can even point the gun directly away from the enemy and I still get them. Pretty stupid in my opinion. So, basically, the person who pulls the trigger the fastest wins. That's not my idea of what a laser tag set should do. On the other hand, if you shoot at each other from far away it's a little more realistic.
Great set of laser tag gear for small or large groups.

Great product. Was really surprised by functionality and features. They have a lot of functionality that is easy to use. Things like team selection on vest and gun, shooting sound selections, optional led light for night play, reloading action and even a silent mode. Also seem like you could buy a bunch of sets and play teams however you want to. Did not test range for distance to hit target. I will say it is hard to miss is a short range. For example, if you have your gun on a different team setting than you vest and point the gun away from you, it will register a hit on your vest every time you shoot. Not completely sure how they are handling directional shooting and sensors etc.
