Latest version of the classic chess playing program. I'm a patzer so I'm not using this program to analyze games or prepare lines.
When chess programs first started out their main problem is getting better - getting stronger so they could pose a credible challenge to players. I'm old enough to have played early versions of various programs and honestly they were OK but not that good. Today, only the top 10 players in the world can ever hope of winning a game against these programs and forget taking a match.
Ironically today, the challenge is to tweak the programs to play like humans - make human mistakes and have human foibles. This allows the program to be of greater value as an entertainment and teaching tool. It largely succeeds but some of the old foibles remain. I wish the program were more transparent and intuitive to use but it has to deal with legacy issues relating. Still it is pretty good and would be worth it if you have an older version (like version 10 or 12) I upgraded from version 13. If you have a more recent version, I'm not sure it would be worth it but see what others think.

Easy to install. Very compatible with Windows 10. Excellent lessons, good AI. Cheaper than chess.com.
