The startup sequence is a bit squirrely; it lights up, shows the last recorded temperatures, then the backlight goes off before it's ready to record. (It's ready when an 'L' is showing.
It records accurately, but since the backlight is off, you have to listen for the beep, which is so quiet that you can barely hear it.

This thermometer works exactly as I expected and other oral thermometers. Place the thermometer under your tongue, close your mouth and wait about 45 seconds to a minute, and it beeps and displays the temperature. This product comes with plastic disposable sleeves if you need to use it for multiple members of the family. I found the sleeves to be a bit flimsy, but I also haven't used any before. I tested the thermometer with the sleeve and without and got a difference of 0.3° higher without the sleeve. I prefer the reading of an oral digital thermometer over a forehead or ear thermometer and I like how this display lights up after it beeps so you can see the numbers clearly. I can imagine if you're not feeling well, you probably don't want to turn the lights on just to read the temperature.

After calibrating this Digital thermometer to be accurate it has been working very well. My temp has always been 1 degree lower than what is considered normal. It has a soft, gentle and flexible tip.
