Solid manual grinder, small
TJ•April 26, 2018
This is my first time grinding my own coffee beans, so take my review with that in mind - however, overall, I like this manual coffee grinder! It's small, so it's really more for personal portions of coffee, which is a bit of a downside. Being the newbie that I am at coffee grinding, the instructions that it came with were somewhat confusing to me, as they don't have pictures, so refer to the Amazon product listing site if you're having trouble locating how to adjust the grinder's coarseness for your coffee grounds. The instructions also have "How to Use", "Caution", and "Re-setting Ceramic Blades to a Grinder" sections, in addition to the "Turning the Adjusting Wheel for Coarse or Fine Grade". In any case, the actual grinding process is simple, and the handle is smooth and easy to use. The bottom compartment, where the coffee grounds go in the grinding process, has a little window so you can see the compartment fill up as you grind, which I honestly like (it feels very rewarding, haha!). It definitely is effort to grind though - especially holding the grinder still as you rotate the handle - I opted for a bit to hold the grinder between my legs so that my arm wasn't doing all the work haha.
It works but I wish it were better.

Each piece fits tightly together, making the contraption feel well-made. Thing is, the top "lid" fit so snugly, that it's a little tough to get on. It takes about 3 seconds. The handle/crank is the same way - you have to fit it on the axle nut just-so, like a crescent wrench. A very minor struggle, but it's still an unnecessary struggle - especially unwelcome at 7am. Also, there are parts of this grinder that are made with plastic, which I didn't want. Plastic, when discarded, ends up in the oceans and kills sea life. I would prefer a grinder without plastic parts, a no-struggle lid, a no-struggle crank (that doesn't squeak), and all of it made somewhere other than China.
Poor quality.

This was a bad purchase that I regret. The product was sent in a envelope which caused the packaging to be damaged and opened before I even received it. I was unable to even take the lid off to load the beans for grinding because it was on so tight. The burr grinder is not on evenly which completely defeats the purpose of a burr grinder (consistent-size grinding of beans). While i was manually grinding the beans the handle litterally fell apart on me and I wasn't even able to finish grinding my coffee beans.
Don't purchase this; there are better quality products out there.

Nice design, poor execution and quality

Overall design is nice - compact, simple with minimal parts, grinds well (while it worked).
However, the manufacturing quality leaves something to be desired. The main cylinder body connects only by pressure fit - the top lid was not stamped particularly well and can be hard to put on/take off, while the bottom grounds holder falls off if you do not press it in far enough.
Additionally, the grinder handle stripped the spindle of the grinder within the first grinding - the handle now spins freely without actually grinding coffee (see pic). If the part was made of harder steel or had tighter tolerances, this would not have happened. On the bright side, I found out that a power drill attaches quite well to the spindle and let's me grind enough coffee for a cup in under 10 seconds. Only time will tell how long the spindle lasts before stripping excessively though.

The only thing I don’t like about it is that it does have somewhere around ...
Vipre77•March 5, 2018
It's been working well so far for the last few weeks. I use it a couple of times per week. The only thing I don't like about it is that it does have somewhere around a half dozen relatively small parts which makes washing them all a little annoying. It's not enough of a problem to warrant losing a star in my review. While I do find all the little pieces a bit annoying to disassemble and clean, it doesn't need to be washed all that often if you're grinding the same things in there. I'd certainly want to wash it if I change out my coffee beans to another flavor/brand or if it has been sitting for a long time unused or if I wanted to run some spices or something like that through it. For now, it's been good with no major issues.
