They are good for medium sized fish but would be hard to land a 20 lb king. The hooks are good but lacquered carbon steel. Not stainless. For saltwater you have to take special care to keep them sprayed with WD40. I had to add a 6 ounce pyramid to defeat the wind on the pier. But when the action is heavy with Spanish Mackerel I have this hook tied to the rail and using parachute cord I drop it into the water about two feet deep. Then I pull it up and keep it right with me. I can snag a Spanish and pull him up. I used to keep my pier net but everyone kept asking to use it and when I needed it they wouldn't let me use it. Spray paint the weight fluorescent orange to see it better when trying to snag land a fish. They work. I ordered size 14 and wish they were bigger.
