I'd read about Manuka honey's healing and antibiotic properties before and keep it in the house at the ready, but never had any urgent need for it. Two weeks ago that all changed. I somehow suddenly developed a serious infection inside my nose. It was greatly swollen and discolored and I won't go into gory details, but it had me almost panicked at it's severity and persistence over several days. I took the unheard of move of losing a days work and income to try to see a dermatologist to get some strong topical and perhaps oral antibiotic to reign it in. But it proved impossible to find a doctor in who would see me the same day as I feared. That morning, I decided as a stop gap measure to try using the Manuka honey.(I'd already tried Neosporin the two previous nights) I thoroughly washed the nostril canal and simply applied a liberal swab of honey inside my nose. Incredibly, by the next morning, in just 24 hours, the infection was broken and inactive and the healing began. If I had read a story or review like that on the internet I would immediately feel skeptical and wonder if it was a plant by honey producers or some over-enthusiastic person with a flair for hyperbole. When faced with the unknown, your mind imagines the worst case scenario, especially since several persons were recently cited as dying from flesh eating bacteria in my state, plus I travel internationally regularly. So I cannot praise enough the near miraculous power of this honey to treat a monster infection first hand. For thousands of years, before antibiotics based especially on fungus was discovered, honey was the known wound dressing. Subsequent reading of clinical studies suggests that honey, but most notably Manuka, is effective even against the so called super bug bacteria that is antibiotic resistant. I will always have Manuka in my house and encourage anyone to purchase and keep this handy as well for those unexpected and anxiety inducing illnesses.

I bought this only i find out that this is not the therapeutic Manuka honey I thought I was buying. I learned This is fake grade of raw honey that all raw honey on the maket could make the same claims. Its also considerably over priced for what you are paying . for non-certified Manuaka honey.. I learned All Manuka honey is not equal. I also learned that Wedderspoon Manuka Honey Active 16+ is not NPA, UMF or MGO certified and therefore does not possess the antibacterial properties of certified therapeutically active Manuka Honey. The KFactor is a phoney grading system created and used exclusively by Wedderspoon to mislead consumers. Not only does KFactor fail to measure the therapeutic quality of honey but it's method of measuring "˜purity' might leave you with a product that isn't even genuine Manuka honey.

Using it to see if it will help shrink my Thyroid Cancer.

The high level of "key chemicals" is what we are seeking for all this cash we are paying. Ratings of 10+ and above (10+, 15+, 20+, etc.) are highest grades of Manuka in New Zealand.
An example of "jumping the gun" is the Wedderspoon product pictured above in the middle, it seems to get good reviews on Amazon (and "seems" to be viewed by American consumers as the best Manuka available in the USA), but you will still see reviewers who make comments such as"¦.
"The results of an analysis performed by NZLabs on two different Wedderspoon products were disclosed yesterday. The analysis included a jar labeled as Active 16+ and another jar labeled as Active 12+, both of which were found to have non-peroxide and total peroxide activity of less than 8.2 which is as low as the test goes. This suggests that the potency of the Wedderspoon Manuka Honey had to be either extremely low or nonexistent. It certainly confirms that the honeys were not of the potency that they were labeled as having.
"This is not only unethical and dishonest, it's an absolute disgrace," says Frank Buonanotte, CEO of Honeymark International which is a U.S. importer of Manuka honey. "This type of inactive Manuka honey will not yield the same medicinal results that people have come to expect." .
