Much easier if your in a hurry and not worried about the gullet.

This is great for a quick sharpen when in the woods but it does nothing for the gullet and seems to take the rakers down a hair too deep and too quickly. There is a trick to how much downward pressure you supply to keep them even and take them more slowly. You will still need to use a round file to work the gullet and remove the flat file from time to time to round off the rakers. Stihl files are some of the best regardless.

This is a great tool for any wood cutter. I have used a lot of other sharpeners and this is my favorite. A few strokes and you are back to cutting. Seems a bit expensive but if the files are high quality it will pay for itself. The jig is amazingly simple and accurate.

This is an exceptional product. Highly recommend for home or professional. A few important issues that would be good if provided in product description. NOT ALL 3/8 PITCH CHAINS ARE THE SAME!! Be aware that the 3/8-P is designed for low profile (picco) chain.
Recommend file size also depends on the chain. What comes with the STIHL 2 IN 1 EASY FILE CHAINSAW CHAIN SHARPENER 3/8" (NO P) lists as Suitable For 3/8" 5.2mm is a 13/64" diameter file (actually 5.16mm) which is recommended for the chains that I use.
The standard for most 3/8 pitch chains is 7/32. (5.56mm)

I own a large piece of property in Calif. that has a stand of 100 year old plus Eucalyptus Trees, they our giants, tuff hard wood, in a high wind area, which makes them even tuffer. I am talking about trees that our 6 feet or more in diameter at there base. I do battle with at least one of these trees a year. I go through a lot of chainsaw chains with two 92 cc Chainsaws.
