I had nightly visitors coming and leaving "gifts" on my pool steps. After installing this unit on the grass about 7-8 ft from the steps, the visits have stopped. I haven't turned it on in about 2 weeks, and haven't had to clean up after any raccoon since then. I'm sure they came at first, because I saw the floor wet a few times, and saw my motion security lights came on as well.

The sensor is very sensitive. When the water is connected and the unit is on, any nearby motion activates the unit, which makes a very startling "pshhhhh" sound immediately followed by a short spray of water to the sides and front. It sounds like a sprinkler when it comes on, maybe a tiny bit louder, but it's perfect! It startled me SO many times while I was testing or adjusting it from behind it!

I definitely recommend this for anyone with similar problems. I'm sure it would also work with dogs or cats roaming in the area, but I can attest that this drives raccoons away.

So wanted this to work but so far no luck with rabbits. U can see in the pic the device (on the max sensitivity setting) just staring at the rabbit chopping on the grass and not doing anything. Thought I read somewhere that it would work with rabbits but maybe their heat signature is too small to be picked up by the sensor? Even when they hop around the grass it fails to trigger. My kids however have fun triggering it (but not the reason I bought it).

P.s. to those trying to figure out the hose connection - I had to use a hand held wrench to remove the plastic quick disconnect piece and then that will allow the male end of the hose to attach to the device.

I googled how to keep deer out of garden. The best solution I seen before this, was plant enough for them and you. But this really works for deer and raccoon. I'll have to much sweet corn this year!

Why??? Why are you selling a product to the average consumer that will not connect to a garden hose? I have to go to the hardware store and buy another connector to make this work. There's a cap that covers the garden hose connection but not one for the other side. Not consumer friendly.

I'm totally enamored of the idea of this. The deer are worse than ever this year--when we drive home, they are lounging in the driveway and move out of the way only reluctantly. So this seemed like a reasonable solution, and I was looking forward to seeing their surprised little faces. At any rate, having connected it and tested it for the clicking of the sensor, which I heard, I connected it to the hose and...nothing. For whatever reason the sensor doesn't seem to work when it's in place and connected to the hose. New batteries, same outcome, retest with the water off, and disconnected it works but the moment I put it in position it doesn't. So I guess I'm going to have to send it back. Follow-up: I can get the spray to trigger only when I cover the sensor completely with my hand.
