I don't normally write reviews but this thing is a life changer! I broke my ankle which required some pins, plates, and screws with a very long recovery period (6-8 months of no weight bearing.)
Crutches annoy me so I opted for a knee scooter. The previous scooter owner purchased an expensive gel padding that helped but I needed something more since I'm not one to sit around and do nothing while I heal.
I purchased this padding and what a life changer! The padding was like a slice of heaven under my knee. My cast was about 5 inches from my knee so sometimes, I'd have to rest the cast on the padding and change positions often when the cast became heavy. My plaster splint was just about the same length but it had a soft front which was more conducive to the knee scooter and padding. My walking boot (even though I can't walk on it) was the air pump type with front valves; I wouldn't recommend a knee scooter for this type of boot because the scooter in itself will push the boot into your shin bone and flatten this padding (those boots are heavy all by them selves.)
Within the 4 weeks of using this pad, I spent probably 4-6 hours on it a day (it actually accompanied me on a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean.) Beach sand was well hidden in the fibers of the cover and didn't scratch my knees. The dirt/oil TSA got on it was easy to wash off in the washing machine and that's where the padding fails.
After putting the padding in the washer, it never returned to its plush cushion, especially in the knee area. My knee (with no added weight from a cast, boot or splint) went straight to the bottom of the pad with little to no cushion.
I just purchased another one of these cushions in hopes that I won't have to wash it and it will stay plush until I no longer need the scooter.

I'm a heavy person, so my weight still causes me knee pain while using the knee scooter, but with my size, I think that's somewhat inevitable. With this, it's definitely better than without. It has held up so far for a few weeks. While it's not a magic fix, I can't imagine it could be any better with any other product.

I bought an Elenker knee scooter and was warned by a nurse that I should buy an extra pad for the cushion regardless of which make/model of scooter I bought.
I looked at several different options but this one stood out for the solid foam that doesn't smash down like a pancake, and it's ability to be returned if it didn't live up to it's hype.
I am thrilled with this cushion! I'm in a boot (with side air pump controls - if you have front air pump controls on your boot you may want to reconsider a knee scooter and opt for crutches) and this cushion has made using the scooter MUCH more comfortable.
My boot comes up below my knee, so depending on far forward on the scooter cushion I place my knee, then boot may or may not hit the cushion. This extra padding has kept my knee from being irritated and I'm so happy to report that after two weeks use, the cushion hasn't smashed down at all.
I haven't tried washing the cushion, but so far this a MUST have for knee scooters!

This cushion saved my knee!!!! After I broke my ankle (trimalleolar fracture) I was using my knee scooter and had another unfortunate fall off the scooter and landed on my knees --- needless to say I really banged them up and I couldn't put my knee on my knee scooter without intense pain - this cushion took care of that! If you are zero weight bearing and using a knee scooter, this cushion is so helpful - the cushion doesn't move around, and my leg did not slip off (these were my concerns) it was perfect , soft, cushy and your leg sinks into it creating a "well" that keeps you stable. The fit was perfect for my scooter.
