I brought this for my mom because she tend to forget her key a lot. But when it arrived, she didn't use it at all, which was kinda disappointed. Then my brother put the receivers into our rooms and use them as a type of alarm. So now, whenever my parents want to call for me or my brother, they just have to push the button instead of yelling out loud or walk up the stairs. The sound that it makes is not loud enough to annoy me but enough to have my attention since I have my headphone on almost all the time (and also my brother).
Additionally, the remote also has a small LED light which I guess to use to find keys in the dark. I have tried it and the light was very soft. If you have a bad eyesight, I doubt that it will be useful.
Overall, it isn't used for its original function but it works.

We don't lose our keys often, but when it happens it can be very frustrating trying to retrace our steps. These arrived the other day and I put the batteries in each receiver and tested them. The lithium coin cells are included, the two AAA batteries for the transmitter is not. The backs of the receivers open with a coin, be sure to put the + side of the battery facing UP. They work great, just as described, even heard it from the floor below. This locator would have saved me a lot of worry last week, which is when I decided to get a key locator. These are too thick for things like wallets (unless it has a change compartment) or iPods, smart phones. But they would work great with remotes if you don't mind the thickness of the receiver. JUST DON'T COVER UP THE LITTLE HOLE OVER THE BEEPER or the beeps will be muffled and hard to hear.

The warranty card recommends registering your unit on line and your 12 month warranty goes up to 2 years. But their web site did not have a page to register the devices! So I took a screen image of my Amazon sale confirmation and emailed it to [email protected] asking how I can register it and get the extended warranty. A day or two later I got an email reply that I had my extra year warranty, and if it warranty service was needed just email them and include my order number for warranty coverage.

The receivers seem rugged, but they aren't waterproof. Would not use it for any items or pets that might get wet.

This has made my life so much easier. My husband is thinking of duct taping one to the remote control. You get 4 and you have to keep the locator in the same place. I swear this will save you sooooooo much time and that horrible feeling when you are late and cannot find your keys. Get it don't hesitate. AWESOME CHRISTMAS OR WHATEVER YOU CELEBRATE GIFT.

This item is JUNK! I had one similar to it that worked very well, seeing that this one looks nearly identical to it, it should be fine. My old one worked great until the cat lost it. OK, so now your confused.... I put the finder on the cat, if he roams too far I can quickly locate him and get him back. Well he went too far one day and the collar came off, thus now need a new one. I put this on him, he can be 10' right in front of me and the finder will not beep. Tried different ones (it came with 4), same results. I also tried this in my house. with the fobs in front of me, they worked less than 30% of the time. This is not going to work. I do not know why, should not to too tuff, but they fail.

LOOKS ELSE WHERE..... do not buy these. it is possible I got a bad one, but will contact them and see what happens. Will update......

Does not work well at all. Tried as soon as I got it and the finders don't go off unless you are standing right in front of them and sometimes no even then. Also when they do go off, you can hardly hear them, so if you keys slipped between the sofa cushions or something, you would not be able to hear it. Useless in my book.
