Because the dividers are fixed, putting one size batteries into a "designated slot" of another size proves difficult or you can't do it at all--in other words, no flexibility. But they look just like picture. Pay attention to the number of the different size batteries to see if it will hold what you keep on hand.

I am anal-retentive about organization - if there is some kind of organization feature or product I can buy, I'm all over it. So imagine how crazy it drove me to have my batteries everywhere in my junk drawer! I saw this product and loved how each battery could fit into its particular part. I was looking for something compact to store all of our batteries in and get them out of the various places they seem to end up in all over the house. Product meets this news perfectly. It seems sturdy and no issues opening or closing it. I just got it so can't speak to the hinge cracking some reviews mention. So far it seems fine and no issues. Some reviews also mention not a spot for a 9Volt battery. I didn't have the full amount of C batteries the space is designed for, so I stored my one 9V battery there. Really, you can just arrange them however you want regardless to fit your needs. Another review commented that there is a little wasted space in the middle between compartments. This area actually worked out perfectly to store my flat batteries like the type you put in watches. I'm not sure the exact name of that size. You can see it in the pictures. Over all, really pleased with the item and glad to finally have everything all in one place. I only needed one of the containers to hold my batteries. I will hold onto the second to gift to someone or for some other use. You definitely can't beat the price considering you get two of them
