Samsill Leather Padfolio with Strap Closure - A Hit!
Justin J✓ Verified Purchase•September 16, 2023
I am really impressed by this Leather Writing Portfolio or Padfolio as it says on the product page. Let me tell you why:
- First off, appearance is everything. You don't want to go into a business meeting or an interview with something that is flimsy and looks like it is made of cheap material. I had a plastic binder-like material portfolio that I used for a while. However, it wasn't the best type to carry around. This one from Samsill is made of a tough leather material and screams "professional" when looking at it.
- Secondly, the strap is a great addition to the portfolio - not many types I have seen with this feature. It gives the the product that much more of a professional look especially in any business sector for any type of meeting. It definitely helps your portfolio stand out from the rest. My only quip with the strap is that once you open the portfolio, there is no real place to hook the strap. It will usually stay up in the air and can be annoying as it will fold naturally due to gravity onto the pad itself. This can hinder writing freely but not enough to take off a star in the ratings.
- The included writing pad is very sturdy and made of appropriately thick paper. The pen does not bleed through and it does not tear off in the wrong places when a page needs to be removed. It is placed into the large pocket on the right-hand side of the padfolio and can be refilled with a 8.5'' x 11'' writing pad if needed.
- When you open the padfolio, you will see some pockets on the left-hand size. The largest compartment needs to be extended a bit more to the bottom - it can be tight and difficult to place some papers in there but with a little maneuvering, I was able to leave some documents in there without any problems. In addition, there is a pocket in the middle for smaller sized documents or index cards. And lastly, there is a pocket to place business cards, which come in handy especially when you receive someone else's business card and don't want to lose them. In the middle of the padfolio
is a pen loop that is slightly smaller than expected especially for my Uniball Signo 207 Pen (get this pen if you don't have one - it will CHANGE YOUR LIFE and is better than any pen made by Pilot which bleeds too much). However, with a little push, it can fit in there quite snug.
Other than that, this padfolio is quite useful, looks professional, and will have other people asking you where you got it from. I wish the price was a bit cheaper but it is from a known brand which has added the strap closure and therefore, I see why the price can increase.

Everything is pretty good about this portfolio and it's come in pretty handy so far. There are 2 things I wish were better. 1. There is no pen holder. I just leave one in the spine so guess that's a solution. 2. The leather is incredibly slick. It's literally hard to pick up with one hand, I'm considering using some fine grit sandpaper to scuff it up a bit so I can get a grip on it.
Very high quality, great looking, real leather portfolio perfect for business meetings

This is a very high quality leather portfolio that oozes quality and reeks of leather. The disgustingly opulent smell of a leather item. It's wonderful. This is the kind of item that looks perfect at our upper management meetings, yet provides the functionality required to participate at that meeting. It is smooth and firm to the touch and feels as great as it looks. I'm especially fond of the relief stitching as it provides an excellent counterpoint to the black leather and serves to draw out its overall luxury look.
It's especially attractive in that it's really very inexpensive - this will last you some years, so long as you're not abusing it, and it looks like it costs much more than it does. This portfolio isn't as extensive as some of the "padfolios" you can buy, which is exactly why I selected it. Padfolios serve their purpose, essentially acting as trapper keepers for adults, and I do use them regularly for projects that require a lot material be located in one area and be easily accessible. But I don't always need to carry 5 folders and notebooks and a tablet and 10 pens all at once.
This allows me to have a writing pad, a nice pen, and a couple of pocket folders (the second pocket is behind the notepad) - exactly what I'd need at a non project oriented meeting at work, or a business meeting with clients. I think it speaks to a high degree of professionalism without being ostentatious; while it's obviously a very nice, quality item, it is clearly not something that someone would spend hundreds of dollars on. I've been asked about it by both colleagues and clients, as the former like the idea of something not quite as cumbersome as a padfolio and many of the latter have never seen something like it.
If you've a need for an item like this, you'll already know it and I don't have to sell you on the why of it. I can sincerely recommend that you keep this item in your consideration because it really is very nice. I've been nothing short of pleased with it, and I will definitely buy another when it is warranted.
