Lightweight, compact personal cooking unit

This jet boil is a great piece of gear, it heats up 1/2 liter of water in about 2 minutes. I've used it for Ramon noodles, MREs, and coffee. The plastic lid seems like it will melt if left on while cooking and using a plastic spoon was also a poor decision (consider getting a metal spoon). Overall a great personal cooking unit that's sure to improve morale.

Also, make sure you buy a jet fuel container with it (abt 10 bucks) online or at most sporting goods stores.

Keep in mind: Military/commercial flights will not let you take these fuel cans on board so your out of luck when it comes to transporting it.

Be sure and like this review if it was helpful, I am trying to be an Amazon Vine Reviewer!
JetBoil is great. Coffee press ... less great.

I love the JetBoil. It's light, it's fast, it packs super compact. I bought some freeze-dried meals (e.g., Mountain House). Make up the water in the JetBoil and pour it in the meal bag, and in three minutes you have a warm, tasty meal.

I don't recommend using the included coffee press. Inevitably, coffee grinds will get past the screen of the press. You can't drink out of the JetBoil itself, so you need another cup. Then you need to clean the JetBoil. It's just a lot easier to bring some Starbucks Via, use the JetBoil ONLY to make hot water (then no cleaning is required!), and make the coffee in the cup you're going to drink from.

My hubby got me this bad boy for Christmas. I have only tested it out twice so far, so I might amend this more once I put it through the paces. In the two times I used it, the water reached a boil in around 2 minutes. The first use was to boil water to put in a freeze-dried food pouch. The second use was to make coffee using the included coffee press. The second use also reached a full boil in around 2 minutes.

Overall Quality- The JetBoil is built of high-quality materials that seem built to take a beating and last. The stand and the press are made of less-durable plastic, with the coffee press being the least durable component.

Speed to Reach Boil - Around two minutes in about 60F with little wind. So much faster than grilling a burger on a camp grill.

Coffee - If you are like me and might go into a coma without your morning joe, I am happy to report that this Jetboil and coffee press brew a delicious, full-bodied cup of coffee in about 5 minutes total. AMAZING. If you already have a jet boil, you can add the coffee press for under $15. It's worth it so have one less piece of equipment to carry.
TIP: Brew the coffee AFTER you use the Jetboil for a freeze-dried meal-in-a-pouch. That way you don't have to wash the Jetboil canister twice.

Convenience/Packablity - This little stove packs a lot of use in such a light package. I haven't taken it camping or backpacking yet, but I can say it takes up about 90% less space and weight than my current camping grill. I think it would be excellent for backpacking due to it's light weight, small size, and how the components of the Jetboil all packinto the canister.

I love this thing!! Ive used it on a couple camping trips since purchasing. Ive been using the small propane cans and they seem to last quite awhile. Its pretty compact when storing. I use it on motorcycle camping trips. Takes up no space. I also use it as a french press for making coffee on my trips. Great product.
It made great coffee and it made it everything fast

I purchased this item a couple weeks ago (end of September) for a camping trip to the Shawnee Forest and we (My son and I) used it for breakfast, lunch, dinner and especially coffee! I don't understand the complaint about grounds in the coffee, maybe a couple but I could not tell. It made great coffee and it made it everything fast. If you fill it up to the max line it takes 2 cups of water. This line is to keep the water from boiling over.

I am thinking, that the problem with the grounds getting into the coffee for some might be that they might be putting screwing the plunger rod into the wrong side of the filter / press. At first I was ready to start using press with the structural ribs of the press facing up but then I realized that this method would not give any room for the grounds when the device is completely plunged. So, the way I use it with very little grounds getting into my coffee is by screwing in the plunger into the side of the press with the writing on it which gives it space under the press to contain the grounds. (I just verified on their site to screw in the plunger into the flat non concaved side). I tried it upside down and grounds definitely get by the press and into your coffee. Even if grounds would get by, we are really camping right? We not sitting at a coffee house or sitting around the fire at the neighborhood KOA, We are off the grid where the only good use for your phone is as a camera and it is in Airplane Mode!

My only complaint and reason for it not giving it five stars is that I could not fit the orange stand in the cup with the burner, the press and plunger parts and one small propane tank . You don't need this stand if you are using the larger tanks. But if you are using the smaller tank you will need it because it would not be stable.
