Very Nice Fan for The Price -- Relatively Quiet and Efficient

This is a very good quality fan / blower for the money. Since I was mounting this close to living areas, I wanted something that was relatively quiet. The noise level is surprisingly low -- you can hear it, but it's not clunky or out of balance, or too noisy for people to have a conversation as long as they are 8 to 10 feet away. The housing and mount are plastic, but it appears to be quite rugged. It has a built-in variable speed controller which is a nice plus. The fan assembly looks a little flimsy in the picture, but the actual blade seems quite rugged and well-constructed.
I'm using the fan to circulate air between different areas of my total living space. I'll provide additional updates as I gather more expereince using the fan.

Powerful but has an annoying audible hum...

Very very powerful. My only complaint is that at the slower speeds there is an audible hum which seems to come from the motor (not the fan blades). I have this fan installed in my basement and when it's not on like 80-100% of the full speed, I can hear the hum when I'm on the first floor. This is really disappointing because I really only need it to run at 50% or lower, because the high speed moves too much air. I've tried other fans and this is the best so far, but how hard could it be to make a fan where all you hear is the "whoosh" of the air, and nothing from the motor?
