I'm not sure whether sinks have changed or what, but I went though quite a few options before finding this one. It's the only one I tried that actually seated fully in the drain's depression and doesn't leave a couple teaspoons of water lingering at the bottom. Installation wasn't hard, but it was a bit different than some others. The top flange requires a ring of plumber's putty like all "classic" drain installs. The black gasket that sits closest to the flange...not sure it's really needed since the putty should be enough, but depending on the size of your drain opening it may be very difficult to seat it fully. Will need to wrench-tighten the nut a bit more than would normally feel comfortable. Hint: you will NOT see the black gasket when you are done, as it should be entirely buried in the drain and the putty will also be fully "severed" and buried in the drain. Aside from that, this was a drop-in replacement for an old Moen drain, though thankfully now without the overflow and the stupid drain lever that always breaks. And not tarnished and spotted brass. ;)
Anyway, a good quality product. Simple. Functional. Something seemingly missing from most of the competition. Even a decent match for the Delta SpotShield Brushed Nickel faucet I paired it with.

Very good product for the money

I've installed a lot of sink drains and this one with pop up is one is the nicest I've seen for under $20.
Good, but difficult install.

The item itself is nice in every respect. However, the instructions, while warning you to use plumbers putty and/or thread tape, are not entirely clear regarding where to use the plumbers putty. After installing, having a leak and then disassembling, we finally figured out where some of the putty should go - on the bottom of the sink's outlet. This is in addition to using it at the bottom of the sink (top of drain hole) to ensure the stopper fits tightly at that point.
Has only been installed (the second time) for a few hours now but everything is dry. One additional note: the tail piece may be too long for some installations, especially if you are replacing an old stopper or are otherwise dealing with existing drain piping. We had to cut about 1 1/2 inches off the tail pipe (hacksaw with a fresh 24T blade) to get it to fit down in the existing J trap and still tighten things up. Much simpler that redoing the drainage pipe.
