I have mixed feelings

It's very well built and will last forever if kept dry and out of the weather. But the collar doesn't stay in place in the "on" position very well
Great grappling hook

Very good and well built hook. Sturdy yet not heavy to the point where it can't be thrown over trees or limbs. Could easily hold my weight.
Great buy, can't recommend more

Very solid. I bought this for tree cutting, to grab limbs, but if I climbed I would have no problem believing this would support at least one of me. Likely more. It was really neat that the claws fold down for storage..Great buy, can't recommend more.

The product is as described with one exception. The only part that fails to respond to magnetism--a good test of 304 stainless--is the threaded part of the bar, male and female. Since this is the area that would cause the most trouble should it rust, that is OK with me although I may wish to add some lubricant on the pins that hold the claws. But it is not accurate to say that it is all stainless. A positive aspect of this design is that the pins are peened instead of held on by circlips as are seen on other brands, which are less secure.

I can't attest to this being used for rock climbing necessarily because I don't rock climb. But I can say it works very well with branches. It's definitely a solid hook. They didn't provide instruction but it's simple to use. Here is a tip. The hook opens and closes by spinning the threaded stem, so once you throw it, you can make it permanently lock open and stay stuck by spinning the rope.
