Amazing, Complete, Affordable well built full body exercise equipment
Lastarfighter✓ Verified Purchase•June 13, 2023
I bought this product in 2019 so I've used it for a while. This is one of the best Total Gym competitors out there at the price point it sells at, it is a call mplete system with a full array of attachments and even comes with a smartphone holder. When I bought it, it was a steal and the company I worked for always provided us with a $600 allowance to either join a gym or buy equipment, so it was no risk to me at all, but when I bought it, it was a steal at only $400, today I see it's at $698, but I would still buy it again. It is the only gym that I know that will ship to Hawaii and at that time it was free shipping, but with a $27 ship fee it's nothing, in Hawaii I would pay at least $300 for any bulk equipment shipping so makes this thing even more attractive. The only thing you don't get is an exercise chart, but I see you can pick one up for only $10, so it's not even an issue. All in all since 2019 till now 2023, I am very happy with Gr8Flex and wanted to thank the company for such a well built product at such an affordable price.
Great Replacement

I got this to replace my old Total Gym. It's great and seems more stable. I love it. Haven't added the resistance bands yet but it's great that they're included.
Great for the price...so far....

I have been holding off writing this review:
UNBOXING: So when I got the unit; the first thing that I found opening the box was pieces of broken black plastic. These came from the plastic caps that cover ends of various metal tubes and what not of the equipment. After further unboxing it became evident this was a shipping carrier issue not a product issue. Although I do have significant bending of one end of the leg tubes where a cap was broken completely off in shipping; it really has no effect on how the equipment works thus far.
INITIAL SET-UP: I have owned a piece of similar equipment of a certain name brand 20 years ago; I initially was going to spend about $1400 on said name brand until I came across the GR8FLEX while looking for similar types of equipment. Therefore I had some carnal knowledge of how to set this thing up. So being the man that I am; I didn't need no stinking instructions! After about 10 minutes of pondering I was able to unfold and set this thing up in proper fashion without succumbing to the website for help. Although a single sheet or 2 of written instructions would have been nice after unboxing.
FIRST USE: Big Problem! So out of the box the actual noise the seat / slide made was loud. And the ride was less glide and more bumpy. After a week of use I didn't want to use it anymore while my daughter was in her room trying to sleep a floor up and 2 rooms away. That's how loud it got. Plus the bumpiness made laying on the seat unpleasant and annoying to use. That being said; I contacted the seller right away about the seat and caps. Initially they were going to basically replace the whole unit. I told them I was fine with getting some new caps. After further review of the seat/ slide; the rollers seemed to be the main culprit. I contacted the seller again and the put the caps and rollers in the mail ASAP.
WEEK 2: So I haven't used the thing much this week due to the noise and bumpiness. I received the caps and rollers today and promptly installed the new rollers. However; after removing the rollers and discovering that it seems to me (and I am no engineer by any means) that the actual bearings aren't taking most of the load. It appears the bushing between the bearings in the rubber roller is riding on the bolt. This is causing major wear on the pressure side of the bolt. So I ran to the hardware store and bought new bolts and replaced the metal bushings with nylon bushings (which are sloppy but so were the metal ones). I also added a washer at the bolt head to help it spin if necessary in hopes the bolt doesn't wear so quickly. I am happy to say the noise level is down about 90% and the bumpiness is down about 70% thus far only a few exercises in after the roller replacement.
OVERALL: I like the unit with all it's accessories. To be fair; I am a BIG guy and my one concern is the roller assembly is just not quite beefy enough and I will need to replace them again sooner than I want too. I would like to see the rollers re-engineered with beefier bolts and less slop between the bearings / bushings and rubber. I think one beefy bearing with a rubber coating and a thick bolt would be better than the current design (again, I am no engineer).
The exercises are good; if you've used any similar piece of equipment I would say you would be quite happy with this unit in functionality- if you like the other one. For $1000 less and great customer support this far; I think it is well worth the money at this point. To be continued....

Solid unit ... except for a couple of items that are show stoppers !!!

I purchased this product in November of 2019 and it arrived a few weeks later. I put it together within a few days of the arrival date and was very impressed as to how solid this Total Performance Gym is built! I began a regular workout schedule of 3-4 days a week. I was losing weight and gaining muscle as planned ! Then, about the first or second week of January, I was doing some curls in a smooth motion and suddenly the cable going through the center pulley became lodged outside of the pulley track and stuck between the pulley and the outside of the pulley (see 2 pictures).
The other weak point (that I have noticed) is the yellow handled spring loaded selector that allows the ramp angle to change. For the first few weeks it was not hard to pull the selector out to allow the ramp height to change, but over the last 1-2 weeks it was virtually impossible to pull it out (see picture of yellow selector knob).
My workouts - needless to say - have come to a complete halt. $400 down the tubes. Anyone have these same issues too?
I will up the score if there are easy fixes and solutions to prevent this from happening again!
Thank you!!!
Update (3/4/2020): A day or two after I left the review above, I figured out how to remove the cable that was lodged in the pulley. No, I have not had the time to call the vendor to understand how to fix the stuck yellow handled spring loaded selector. I did up the score from 2 stars to 3 stars. Will up the score again once the solution for the stuck yellow handled spring loaded selector is identified.
Update (3/8/2020): I was able to fix the spring loaded selector knob by removing it, lubricating it, and re-installing it. All is well and the score (5 Stars) is where is should be!

Real quality stuff!!!

This thing is awesome! The guys need some marketing and editing help, but the mechine is top quality!! I'm a welder who works with steel every day, and this thing has good strong welds and is built with steel about 2 sizes thicker than needed, making it quite substantial. That being said due to shipping one of the cables had a pinch in the plastic down to the steel, but no worries, it didn't effect anything and one of the feet broke but again, didn't hurt a thing. I spent about 20 bucks at the hardware store on some light chain, rope, and different clip on parts to make things the right length for me and add a ton more exercises. I'm not only impressed with the mechine, I'm proud to own it because my friends are envious and it works SO well. Ok, now for the beginners out there, this thing is easy easy. And for the rest of you, there is so much room to grow, with the extreme height and also the resistance bands ( that you can upgrade) you won't outgrown this anytime soon, ESPECIALLY if you go slow and keep proper form. And yes, it's beefy, but it's easy to put up, adjust, and move around. Hope the best for you and GR8FLEX.
