Excellent sleeve protectors

I volunteer at a dog rescue shelter and have used these sleeve protectors since I received them. They are easy to get on and off and provide excellent protection . Several other volunteers have since purchased them and luv them. Good also for trimming roses and doing gardening to prevent injuries or skin abrasions , etc.
Great idea for work around sharp items, or for self defense, but don't know how well it will work

I don't know if these would actually work, and I'm not about to test it out myself. I don't want to get injured if they don't, and I don't want to damage the product in a random test, even If I'm not wearing them to test. I'll just trust that those who designed them did sufficient tests. They don't claim to stop the thrust of a sharp implement, but a slice across the surface should be protected - which is great. They fit well, and are fairly comfortable, but probably not on a very hot day, or in a hot work environment for very long. I could see putting these on if you knew you were about to do a task that had a high risk of being cut on the arms to give added protection, or if you carried them in your vehicle, or backpack or other travel bag, and anticipated a potential attack from violent characters who might be armed with knives. Many victims of knife assault succumb to and suffer several "defensive wounds" on the forearms and hands while protecting their face and body, before the attack finally reaches any vital organs. These could help give a defender a fighting chance to disarm an attacker, or escape with minor injuries.

The skin on my arms it very thin (old age + sun damage) and it doesn't take much of a bump to tear it. This became a real issue while working on cars and around the house. Looking online, I found that there were sleeves that are used for protection. I initially tried sleeves that were not slash resistant,(made out of thick cloth) but they were very hot, and did not clean up well when washed. I then tried these and they are just what I needed. They offer great protection against tearing my skin although they do not protect against bruising. This is not an issue for me since something that did would most likely be too cumbersome to use.
They are breathable, and this makes them cooler when used during the summer. A plus is that they clean up well. I use them while working on my car and get grease and grime on them all the time. I have found that hand washing them with a little soap works well.
I rated them down in comfort because they sometimes irritate the area between the thumb and pointer finger. Also, I didn't rate them at all for warmth because that is not how I use them.
I rated them 5 stars since I could not give 4.5.
