Having used the fireplace with THIS grate through a northern Michigan winter, I feel comfortable giving a top review. Over 5 cords of oak burned and the grate shows no wear. This grate was high enough to allow ventilation even after several logs of coals and ash. The metal is heavy enough it never showed signs of glowing. This was the best money spent I could wish for.
