Would highly recommend this PH meter. I Usually don't write reviews but I thought I would share my experience to help others that are in my same position. I have used numerous other products the cheap $15 yellow ones have gone through about 2 I've you strips and I have used the ph liquid. I was very hesitant in spending the money for a ph pen but figured if it last years and is accurate would be worth it. I can say that after a few months of pretty heavy use about every 2 to 3 days it's still right on point. I usually calibrate it once a week and the furtherest it has been off is .1 which is completely acceptable to me. Calibration couldn't be easier and usually holds for an extended period of time.
If you're looking for a good value quality made ph pen no need to look any further. I don't usually buy anything until I read a million reviews and have weighed the cons and pros for a while. I found after looking at the reviews this was the one for me and I'm glad I went with it. Hope this helps anybody else. This is a complete independent review based on personal experience with no affiliation or help from the company whatsoever

I reviewed a lot of PH testers not many have great reviews. Inaccuracy seems to be a common theme. Of course if you don't have more than one tester, it's hard to tell if any tester is accurate. What I like about this model is that it provides calibration solution that ensures that you keep your reader within good testing guidelines. The only downside I see is that you need to get new solution after every 10-15 calibrations (which need to be done at least weekly). I don't recall seeing that in the overview but I might have missed it. It's a great tester and very easy to use and read.
Works great

I bought my first Apera ph pen about 4 years ago. I have replaced the probe twice witch was very easy to do. I just bought another one recently, not because I need it but to have a back-up. I use the pen several times a day every day. I defiantly recommend it.
working well in hard use

I have had mine for several months and it is performing well. It seems pretty tolerant of my just leaving it out for an half an hour, not in storage solution, between fish tanks. I'm not sure I understand the negative reviews here because variable readings hasn't been my experience. I think if you are trying to read moving water, it will have a little trouble. If I stirred a bucket of water preparing for a water change, it can't be still swirling. Also, you will need to be patient if you're changing the temperature and allow the meter to find the temp of the new solution. But with those two things in mind, I just haven't had any trouble. I calibrate about weekly, but it's aways close and hasn't gotten way off.
