Let me start by saying my kids are exceptionally hard on things. These walkie-talkies worked well for them and they had good sound quality. The only downfall is that they stopped working when the PTT button fell off. This happened to both devices and then we weren't able to get them back on. I'm sure however that if you don't treat them the way my kids did, they would last longer.

We live in a building and sometimes to do laundry I have to travel to other floors. as each floor only has one dryer. My kids are old enough to be left in the apt for a few minutes without me, however, my son (11 years old) was having anxiety issues for a few weeks where he was worried if he couldn't physically see me. These walkie Talkies did the trick! Everytime I had to go put clothes in washer or dryer, I would take my walkie talkie and he would call me on it every other minute to be sure I was safe. After a few weeks of this, he finally felt comfortable again and stopped using them. but it is great having them in case we need them again. I was shocked that they worked as well as they did - traveled through 5 floors of apartments!! I live on the 5th floor and often traveled all the way to the 10th and could still hear him perfectly when he called on the radio. Shocking for such a low price!
