I got this for my 5 year old who constantly breaks her switch controllers. After doing some research I came across this controller which looked okay but I wasn't sure with the price being so low. Once I ordered it the company emailed me instruction on how to do a firmware update with easy to follow instructions. When it came I updated it and connected it to her switch in less than 5 mins. This thing turned out to be amazing and has all the functionality of the switch controller except an amiibo reader. The only thing that was wrong with it was the RL was poking out and has a click that the ZL doesn't, but it's pretty negligible. I recommend getting this over the $70 option if you don't have the cash, and even if you did I would still recommend this.

You absolutely should update the firmware, otherwise you'll have lag. First, download the firmware using the link SunyJoyCo provided above under the 'Answered Questions' area.

Next, and the order matters (which is odd....) plug the USB cable into the PC.

Then, hold down the left joystick until it emits a clicking noise and keep holding it. Then, while still holding, plus the USB C end into the controller.

With this done, the controller will enter USB Update mode and you can apply the firmware using a Windows PC. Easey peasey!

Side note: this controller may suffer from battery ghosting, meaning that you can impair the battery life if it is left charging continuously. A few hours at a time will be plenty. Unlike your phone or computer, you won't want to leave this charging overnight.

I was looking for extra controllers for our Nintendo switch. I have two sons who like to play Super Smash Brothers and Mario Odyssey together. I was looking for an inexpensive solution. The Nintendo pro controller was not inexpensive although it did have all of the functionality I was looking for. I looked at the wired controllers because their price points were good but, found that none of them possessed the rumble function and of course you still had to contend with the wire. Not much of a trade-off. I ran across the Sunjoyco remote and it certainly checked all of the boxes. These remotes are not only wireless and have rumble function but, they also are rechargeable and compatible for the PC too! Truthfully, I've never done PC gaming but who complains that something has too many positive qualities? I read the reviews and they did mention the possibility that they'd need firmware updates. Mine in fact worked straight out of the boxes. The company was quick to send me an email detailing how to do that if need be. The best part was that I got these on a lightning deal. They were not expensive to start but I was able to get two controllers for $40! In my mind $40 is worth taking the risk. My gamble certainly paid off. The controllers feel great in your hands. They work wonderfully. They are a little bit lighter than an Xbox one controller but are, for all intents and purposes, the exact same body. My kids are thrilled. This controller is everything it is purported to be. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Sunjoycon saw my negative review after posting and contacted to me to reach a resolution. Although my original controller couldnt be repaired, they did not hesitate to provide me with a working controller. This controller had no issue with connecting to my Nintendo Switch or PC after the firmware update. The customer satisfaction team at SunJoyCon really goes above and beyond to deliver a great customer experience.

"I purchased the controller a few weeks ago, upon receiving it I saw that a software update was necessary to play on 5.0 firmware of the switch without lag. I proceeded to download the update and followed the instruction of putting the controller into update mode. The only problem is, now the controller wont come out of update mode. It has been bricked since the day I got it and wont even light up or turn on. When plugging it into my PC it is recognized as a Xbox 360 controller, however the inputs don't register at all. Unless SunJoyCo has a resolution, I'd consider this a pretty risky purchase and a huge waste of money and time."

I've had two of these controllers for about two years now. They worked for me out of the box, no need for a firmware update. They've honestly held up better than I expected, they've lasted longer than the joy cons themselves-- they've got motion controls in them too and all that which I thought would be bad given the price. They do feel pretty cheap, the buttons and vibration on the controller are kinda loud cause it's really rattly plastic. But for $20 bucks, can't go wrong-- they have lasted longer than most controllers I own so I'm very happy overall. The battery doesn't last as long as the joycons but if you keep a usb c charging source handy it's not big deal.
