Just What I Wanted
Kindle Customer✓ Verified PurchaseMarch 3, 2024
First, a caveat: I have not yet used this luggage as it just came today. However, it appears to be exactly what I wanted. It is very light weight! 2.5 lbs lighter than the old one I had which it is replacing, and that 2.5 lbs can make quite a difference when trying to get it into an overhead bin when you are short (like me) and not young anymore. It is the same measurements inside and out as my old heavy one, so will fit just as much. It has 2 nice size pockets on the outside. In the picture it looks like there is just one pocket, but there are two and both are a good size. It seems to maneuver very easily. I tried it on both a hard floor and on carpet and it moved easily. I went with the two wheel rather than the 4 which are 360 degrees because those wheels cut your packing room by more than 2". It appears to be very well made and sturdy. I am very pleased and can't wait to use this as we are soon heading out on an 11-day cruise where this is the only luggage I will take. After that it will be a 22-day cruise, and again this will be my only piece of luggage. I think this will allow me to meet my goal of traveling light, and fit easily into my flight's overhead bin.
Solid carry-on for traveling

For foreign travel I work with a large checked duffel combined with a small carry-on for "don't want to check" items. My old 18" carry-on finally wore out and needed a replacement. So I bought the Maxlite 20 inch as a replacement...very nice suitcase with good lockable zippered compartments, good rolling wheels, good handle, and light weight...very comfortable to use and wheel around...and looks and feels like solid long-lasting construction. However, it's substantially larger and double the weight of my old 18" carry-on, so I'd prefer a smaller model also be available. I used this 20" on a trip to Tahiti.
Then I was faced with an internal US trip over 4th of July with highly likely plane cancellations...no time to be stuck with checked luggage...can't afford to have your luggage trapped in a cancelled flight. For that trip, I quickly ordered the Maxlite max-carry-on size 22" to try and get everything into that carry-on plus a small backpack. It worked...got everything in...using its expanding feature....and yes our return plane was cancelled and having everything carry-on saved the day as we had to re book on a different carrier to get home after we'd already checked and had boarding passes on our original flight.
The 22 inch Maxlite is not that much larger than the 20 inch, but I guess it's at the airline limit for carry-ons. It works very well, with just a few minor nits.

Good Points: Zippers work smoothly and are lockable; Nice interior zippered folio-sized compartment under the lid for papers and thin items. Nice exterior folio-sized compartment on the exterior of the lid easily holds lap-top computer with easy access during security check-in and is lockable. Wheels work smoothly and are well tucked in so they don't get in the way. Main compartment is expandable...nice feature that I used. Just fit straight-in in large-plane overhead bin. Handle works smoothly...good length. Solid-feeling construction...hopefully providing long life. Slate green is a VERY nice color.

Weak Points: Small exterior pocket on lid side is too small and tight to access and is unlockable....it's useless...but no big deal...I would have just left it off and saved a little weight. As another minor nit...I would reverse the lid hinge line to the other side of the suitcase so the lid opens to the back when the wheels are on the right and handle on the left. I found I was constantly having to rotate the suitcase after having put it on the stand or bed...but that may be just what I'm used to.
No other significant distractions...nice suitcase for my needs.
The 26-inch size is Very Large!
Larry from Tampa✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 1, 2024
I bought this for our upcoming trip to Europe since it has two wheels which is better over cobblestone streets. It turned out to be larger than I expected, and I returned it as I think it would be awkward to handle when boarding trains, planes, taxis, etc. If you want this be sure to carefully check the size to see if it is really what you need/want. I ended up ordering a cheaper 3-piece American Tourister set which includes a 2-wheel 25-inch soft side which is narrower and will be easier to handle.
Passed Ryanair carryon sizing reqs but also survived being checked through two connecting flights

I bought two of these in a rush as we needed them for a family trip, and this model was in stock vs. the spinner. While I wish the 4-wheel 21-inch model would have been available in time (that one is listed as: Case Dimensions: 21 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches; Overall Dim: 23 inches x 14.5 inches x 9 inches; Weight: 5.4 lbs, Vol: 46 liter) , this 20-inch model actually is closer to the Ryanair specs as of August 2022.

(TravelPro does offer an "international" 19-inch spinner model on its own site, but that one has slightly less capacity at 39L and was not in stock within my timeframe. Specs: Overall Dimensions: H: 21.75 in. W: 15.75 in. D: 7.75 in. Case Dim: H: 19 in. W: 15 in. D: 7.75 in. Weight: 5.3 lbs. Vol: 39 L)

I'm happy to report that this 20-inch two-wheel style met Ryanair's specifications with nary a second glance. Ironically I was forced to check it on a Delta/KLM codeshare, because the flight was very full. The Azure Blue looked pretty much good as new when it showed up on the carousel, despite being checked onto two connecting flights. Post-trip pic attached - any color variation in the full-length pic is due to shadows, not dirt. Azure Blue is actually a nice warm blue, first pic is just a little overexposed due to afternoon sun. See second photo for color comparison.

(Actually the bag looked better than my also brand-new hardshell American Tourister (ABS) spinner which was checked on the same flights and emerged with several long scuffs. But they both did the job which was to protect my belongings and remain intact.)

I appreciate that this TravelPro has some higher-end features: all the zippers, even the ones on the interior mesh divider, are two-way (i.e. not just a single one-way zipper); the telescoping handle has two height adjustments; the wheels run smoothly and in fact track so well that you can push the bag down an aisle instead of pulling it, allowing for more maneuverability; the grab handle on the bottom makes it easier to move when loading into an overhead compartment; it's stable and not tippy even when fully loaded and with extra bags resting on top. It does not have locking zippers though you can use a small padlock to secure the zips. My one caveat is that I wish the side grab handle was oriented vertically or diagonally when the bag is standing upright, instead of horizontally. That would make it easier to grab when it is lying on its side (e.g. on a carousel) or to carry when walking in close quarters, as if it were a briefcase.

Last thing that I really like about this bag is that it is quite light (5.4 lbs, vs. other similar models from diff brands which can clock in at up to 8.2 lbs), which makes it far easier for me to hoist it over my head. I am >5 feet tall so when I put it into an overhead bin I need to stand on the seat or lift it in a full overhead press, so every ounce saved matters to me. Plus of course the lighter the bag, the more capacity I have for my belongings.

Quite happy with this purchase!

I have used TravelPro luggage for nearly 20 years. As I used to travel often for work they withstood the rigors of airport baggage handlers, inclement weather and heavy use. They are the best I have found and used.
