Very distressed or beat all to hell

I love the size and shape of the bread box, but the first one came dented and the letters were rubbed off, so the letters E and A in the word "Bread" were rubbed off. The lid does not close tightly, that's okay, but I was hoping it would at least close and not look like the gap was larger on one side than the other.
So I ordered another one and while it was still distressed even more, at least the letters were all there.
I would have preferred a little less distressed for my taste especially since it's the most expensive bread box I've seen, but overall I am pleased.

Exactly as pictured, looks old. Roomy, can hold 2 shorter loaves, as well as crackers and cookies. Beautiful and functional. Perfect for our farmhouse kitchen. It doesn't shut tightly, but I didn't really expect it to, if I
wanted something air tight I would have used an ugly plastic container.
