Yup, niece loves it too

I have an older version of this Travelpro carry on suitcase. This purchase was for my niece as we were going on a vacation together and she said she needed a suitcase. I told her I have just the suitcase she needs. At the airport she asked me "Where do you get this thing?" She it's so light, rolls so easily, has nifty pockets and expands. I'm thinking she's happy!
High quality luggage, light and sturday

I was a bit hesitant to spend so much on a suitcase when there are many less expensive options. But I saw a lot of positive feedback from reviewers here and on other websites. I also had a recommendation from a friend who uses his for travel several times a year. It is incredibly LIGHTWEIGHT which I think is a critical aspect of any suitcase. You are going to load it up with your clothes, etc., thus it really helps if the luggage isn't on the heavy side to begin with. This model has four wheels and moves extremely easily in its upright position. It is expandable and has more than sufficient pockets and zipper compartments. I did not rate the durability factor since I have only used it a few times. Will update if it shows any signs of being less than durable.
The best carry on out there

My favorite part about this bag is how balanced it stay and how easily it moves! I have traveled on train, bus, and plane with this bag and it has yet to disappoint. It is the perfect size for a carry on, fits in every overhead bin I've ever used, and just looks nice. I LOVE THIS BAG. I cannot say it enough, if you are on the fence, get this bag and don't look back!
Not really expandable

The size of the TravelPro Maxlite 5 Compact Carry-on 20" is exactly as stated. (I measured it). Which means that it's very small for a 5 day trip. This carry on meets the size limits of Hawaiian Airlines.
I didn't check it in, so I can't comment on it's durability at being thrown around. All I did was put it in the car, wheel it to the gate, put it in the overhead bin, wheel it to my hotel room, and vice versa. It survived.
This is my 1st spinner bag. I had a 2-wheeler which always tipped over, so I wanted 4 wheels to prevent tipping. I expected this not to tip at all, but it did tip over once at the airport. Of course right in front of TSA check point. So, it's not 100% tip-proof.
Pros:
-very lightweight
-rolls easily on flat surfaces
-doesn't tip most of the time
-seems durable enough (strong zippers zipped, powerscope handle went up and down, carry handles seem strong, softside is strong material which didn't rip, wheels didn't break, hold straps worked inside)
Cons:
-I aired it out for a whole week in the garage and backyard. Still has strong odor.
-rollers got caught on some cracked/stone walkways
-the expandable feature is a joke. It's only about 1.5"x8.5" expanding. Maybe 1 pair of W sized 12 jeans. The reason is that only a portion of the bottom expands; the top 1/2 of the suitcase tapers to "non-expanding". This case does not deserve "˜expandable' in the description.
-when you open the suitcase on a rack, the lid does not stay straight open. Because the bag tapers, the lid is at an odd angle and it falls over. I didn't like this at all. It seems that after a lot of traveling you are putting stress on the lid hinge and it won't last long. Plus, it kept falling over and doesn't stay open.
-the front pocket is almost useless. I couldn't fit my paperback book in it.
Overall, the case is ok. It's not perfect, and I think it's overpriced. I was disappointed in the so-called expandable feature and i don't like that the lid doesn't stay straight open. But it should serve it's purpose and hopefully it lasts for a long time.

Great bag for a short trips!!!

A borrowed this bag from a friend for an emergency trip that came up. I was gone for 5 days and was able to pack everything I needed with ease once I expressed the bag. It was a breeze to carry this on the plane, perfect fit for the over head even expanded. The wheels are smooth, the handle is sturdy. The bag handle loops came in handy and were sturdy for ease for pulling in and out of places. The zippers are good quality. Outside pockets are roomy enough for all pocket items and then some when going thru security.
Loved it so much I had to buy a bag of my own. Used it twice now and every experience has been just as good as the first. Great color selection too.
