Its a self adhesive window tint not static type
Cindy✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 27, 2018
I purchased different type of window tint for my home windows that was a static cling type. I purchased this brand thinking the "removable" part was like the other tints and would be static type. I was surprised with this new type of install of tint that has a layer of glue making it a glue down product and not static product. It was difficult to separate the film from the protective plastic. It took forever to get it started. I used lots of soapy water like the instructions said. I found this type of glue product difficult to handle and it sticks to everything - mine stuck to the window trim as I was trying to place it and then unsticking it created 2 creases that are permanent. The soap water left a haze and soap residue bubbles that will not come out. Even trimming excess around the window glass is challenging cause the little bit of excess sticks to the edge of the window frame and if you are not careful it make you cut the film short and you'll see that mess up clearly. And, like others reported, the flaws in the tint are visible on the outside of the window making it look messy and highlighting the fact I had problems installing it. I will not buy the glue type window treatment again.
Pretty good, almost perfect

It would have been perfect if there wasn't a crinkle in the film. There was only "one" crinkle but as I unwrapped it, it repeated and turned into a pattern that I thought I could get rid of once I applied it, and it helped a little, but it's still noticeable.

I'll try another order and maybe it was a fluke?

TIPS:
1-clean the surface with windex or something then move onto step 2 to give it drying time.
2-make your measurements and cuts and give your self an extra 1/4-1/2 inch allowance. Too much and you're having to fight to keep things in place.
3-soapy water in spray bottle and exacto knife or other REALLY sharp implement and an old credit card (that is SMOOTH! Any bumps or snags on the card will translate into scratches and rips in your finished product) on standby.
4-There IS a Clear film on the front. I've read reviews where people didn't notice n put it up with it on and they said everything was fine (shrugs). If u want to take it off (and I suggest you do because once remove it's actually sticky which probably helps keep it stuck to the window in the long run) make a small bend at a corner and fold it over. What this does is help separate the 2 films ( make the bend as small as possible) then use your thumb or fingernail to pull the bent tab gently back to where it was supposed to be several time letting it flick back to being bent and eventually the 2 will separate and u can take it from there.
5- you want everything done and nearby because you want this to go smoothly. Window should be dry by now. (suggestion, u may want an old towel under the window to catch drips depending on how finicky u are about water getting in the windowsill/ stuff next to/under window). Now you want to LIBERALLY spray the window down all over till it's soaking wet.
5-I like to start from the top and work down b/c, gravity. If u go bottom up sometimes the water wants to run back down or over into the space u just cleared (grrrr).

Now u can do this one of two ways.
A: pull off plastic film and place on window being VERY careful not to let the film touch itself b/c then it sticks to itself and doesn't adhere as well.
Or
B: pull 1/2 the film down, place adhesive top half of film at top of window then place hand on outside of film to hold in place and with other hand finish pulling rest of film off. Feel free to Squirt more water on window before releasing film. Pat down and into place
6- use credit card to get ALL the water and air bubbles put. If u feel like the credit card isn't sliding very smoothly spray the side facing u with soapy water. You CAN pull up film, Squirt more water in as needed to fix a bad wrinkle.
7- use credit card to go along sides and trim up excess.
8- gently wipe down window and done.
Good looks and performance but have a helper on hand when you hang it!

Previously I had installed Rabbitgoo "Patterns" very easily and it has lasted two years very well. This silver one way privacy film is much, much more difficult to install as the mirrored side sticks to itself very easily and is then hard to separate. This caused permanent wrinkles on the window. It helps to spray the soap/water solution on as you take the backing off, but that proved to be impossible for me to do by myself. I will be ordering more film and getting help to install it. I am pleased with its looks and performance so far, which is why I will buy more and why I'm giving it four stars. It is attractive from the outside-not a bright mirror effect, thank goodness-and provides good privacy during the day as it is designed to do. From the inside, it looks as another reviewer said, like "sunglasses for your windows." This was my second order-the first one came bent from shipping and was replaced at no cost to me.
Works as intended, but the film is a pain to remove.

I bought this for the sole purpose of creating a one way screen for a cosplay of mine! It works for that function perfectly, but we have to talk about the peel-away film. The peel-away film took me and 2 other people multiple attempts and eventual cutting to get it to come off. It should not have been that hard!

That being said, it applied easily with some soapy water and does the job! It doesn't tear, and, with the use of a squeegee, sits perfectly flush on glass. Just be ready to spend some time making it work.
hard to install if you are a perfectionist

Very difficult to get a super smooth application without any bubbles or wrinkles. I'm a perfectionist and the end result was not entirely what I hoped it would be. In the end it still serves to add privacy to a upper window in our guest bathroom, so I will leave it as is... However I will NOT be using it on the side windows by the front door like I originally intended. It would simply look cheap and I know I wouldn't be able to get it applied exactly like I want.
