buy this product if installing laminate flooring!

I got this for cutting laminate flooring 8mm thick. It was a huge help and I wouldn't have wanted to install it without this product. Had to use a saw for the longer horizontal cuts and it was so messy and hard to keep accurate. Using this for vertical cuts was a breeze! I used this on the living room, dining room and two bedrooms worth of flooring and the blade wasn't even dulled enough to sharpen. Tool was included for this and that's nice as I will probably find other uses for it. Did it stink paying the 100+ bucks for it? Yes. Did I find it to be invaluable by the end of the project absolutely YES. If you are installing laminate flooring you want this tool. It worked great for me! Oh and I'm not that strong so the long handle gave me a good advantage against the cuts, I used it with ease. Very cool product!
You won't be disappointed.

This tool ROCKS! I didn't have much luck with the utility knife score & snap method on the Lifeproof Rigidcore LVP 7.5mm thickness. Those cuts were ragged and snapping the planks took too much effort for the amount of floor I needed to lay. I pulled the trigger and bought Bullet Tools 9 inch EZ Shear Sharpshooter based on reviews I read. Glad I did. I thought it was a little pricey but after cutting the 1st plank I knew I made the right decision. It cut effortlessly and the cut was clean. Huge timesaver. My wife even loved using it. The last cut on my job was as crisp as the 1st cut. This cutter came fully assembled. Good quality build. I don't have any other LVP projects but I'll probably hang on to this tool for a while. Much thanks to Bullet Tools for a great design. Also Made in the USA!
Definitely worth the investment. Tremendous time saver.

Absolutely worth the money. Did 1500 Sqft of 1/2" engineered flooring and still kicking. I know as a homeowner, it saved me a lot of work and cleaning up of saw dust. Running all those pieces through a saw would have been a slow, messy pain.
There is a less expensive one on Amazon but one reviewer showed pictures of the arm breaking. I can say that the arm on this is under tremendous pressure so it's a good thing it's well made. Sharpened the blade with stone they give you and it's good to go. Spend the extra money on this product definitely.

An absolute tool!

I'm a do it yourself homeowner who has decided to replace the siding on my house with 6.25" Hardi. Researched the tools I would need and this one looked like a time saver as well as dust free. I have been so impressed with the ease and accuracy and the way this cutter has performed.
I set up a work table, (see photo) add a couple 10' 2x4's on sawhorses, adjust the cutters angle so the 12' planks are not in a bind and go to work. This tool will cut fractions or feet off a plank with accuracy. It is designed for vertical cutting but I have slipped some planks in at an angle and cut along a penciled line with no problem. I know it will work great in this manner when I get to the Hardi shingle portion of my project.
When you're done for the day, lock the cutting lever or handle in place and the tool is now easy to carry.
My only disappoint is, when you get the tool new it has a nice measuring strip along one edge. This works great when you're doing cuts under about 16" which I had a bunch of at one point. But after about a day of sliding these cement planks onto the cutter and positioning them to cut it begins to tear off the measuring strip and it becomes worthless. I taped it down at one point but then just peeled the whole thing off and threw it away. Maybe Bullett Tools could improve upon this or remove it completely so it's not a negative.

Great cutter. Expect more effort and honing with thick laminate.

It's a good well made tool to be sure but it has some idiosyncrasies you need to be aware of.
When cutting thick fairly thick laminate (12mm) I found the cuts were no longer straight. Your cut end was not 90 degrees. This especially happened when there was more than a few inches of "cutoff" material. Maybe the weight of the cutoff material contributed? I don't know but I began doing two cuts. One to remove the bulk of the cutoff and a second to do the nice flat cut with most cutoff removed.
I also found myself using the honing stone way more than the directions suggested. Cuts became ragged if I didn't touch up the edge regularly. Kudos the manufacturer for including the stone.
For thinner laminate or vinyl this cutter is probably perfect. It will still serve you well with thicker laminate but it takes more work.
