Meh. It keeps a few mosquitoes away, I guess, but I still have plenty buzzing around me even when I have this going. I'll have it right next to me and can even smell the vapors coming off it (not an unpleasant smell, at least), but mosquitoes are still biting me. Fewer than when I'm not using this, though, so still three stars because it's better than nothing, and because it doesn't stink. But not as good as I was hoping for.

My only regret is that I didn't order this sooner! I am a mosquito magnet -- they love me. I have had my yard professionally sprayed, used Deet on myself, sat next to our fire pit, etc. I still get covered in mosquito bites and just have to go inside. What can I say, this shield is amazing! First night, loaded the cartridge, turned in on and let in run for ten minutes on the porch. It had rained earlier in the day, so I figured it might be less effective because that usually makes the mosquitoes unbearable! Zero mosquito after we started using it. We also have not had an gnats or annoying little black flying insects which we normally do.

Turned it on, watched the light smoke develop, then let it sit on my porch for about 15 minutes before sitting down. Mosquitoes were still very active and all around me. Sat the unit between my ankles and was promptly bitten in the upper thigh. Picked it up and moved it around, still mosquitoes everywhere. Did not work at all.

I live on the Texas gulf coast and the mosquitos are legendary here. This does work quite well. You need to give it about 5 minutes to start giving off vapors, then you will suddenly notice the mosquitos disappeared. The blue mat will start turning white when it needs to be replaced. I leave it outside on the back patio, start it and go inside for a few minutes to give it a chance to heat up. I now have 2 of these because they do work well.
