I am POA and health care advocate for a sweet 84-year-old lady who broke her hip two months ago and is wheelchair-bound while learning how to walk again. The shower in her ALF has a slight lip on the edge so a wheelchair cannot be rolled in. I searched for acceptable shower chairs until I found this one and went "wow"! I ordered it from Amazon thinking it might need professional assembly and considered hiring someone to do it. But when no one was available I packed my electric drill and a pair of pliers and went to the ALF to assemble it. Not only did I not need any tools, the simple snap together assembly was so easy it took all of 15 minutes. The lady's physical therapist was there while I was putting it together and said it was the best shower chair she had ever seen. Medicare and insurance would not cover the cost which is unfortunate as we ended up buying it ourselves. But in the end it's the best thing out there and totally worth the price.

The shower seat was extremely easy to assemble and required no tools. We have a shower stall that is a step down plus has a pretty high lip to first step over. I put seat's legs to max height on one end and shortest height on the other and it fit perfectly, and level. We have now used the chair for several multiple transfers and it is a blessing for my spouse with ALS. Once on the seat we rotate the chair and there is room for her feet to go over the raised lip, into shower area and slide over to center. There is room for me or aide to still enter and help her get a nice shower. We didn't even need to take down our shower doors which I had been prepared to do. Her OT therapist was as impressed as we are. It made a previously difficult transfer into a straightforward one. In summary, excellent solid shower transfer seat.

On a positive note this chair's slide and swivel is easy to use and makes getting into and out of the shower much easier than my old bench. That said there are a number of problems that I have experienced so far. 1. The seat is very shallow (front to back) and without the seatbelt fastened I would feel very insecure. 2. The buttons for the swivel and slide are in an awkward location between the legs. Seems like they could have been placed on the side of the seat just as easily but I'm not an engineer. It would be very uncomfortable if a caregiver had to help me with this activity. 3. The feet are angled so getting the legs on with the feet all pointing in the correct direction was challenging . The feet do not move so we could not just reposition them once we got the legs to the correct height. 4. The arms are low and anyone who needs to push up and then transfer to a walker may be challenged. I know I am. The first time I used the chair I almost tipped it over when I let go with one hand and continued to push up with the other. Also, I have to back up to the chair and reach back to find an arm before I can sit. Because they are so low I have had trouble keeping my balance and have made a hard landing a couple of times.
I have only had this chair for a short time so I hope that I will find that it gets easier to get in and out of with time and practice.

Well this is a no-brainer, mother uses a walker she backs up to the set and sits down we buckle her up release the seat slide it back spin her around and she's in the tub no worries of falls or slips in the tub.

I have been paralyzed from the waist down for 7 years now. Over those 7 years I have purchased 6 shower benches prior to this bench. EVERY one of those benches has been lucky to last me 1 year before having to be thrown out! I have had the ones with cushions and ones with fiberglass seat, and NONE of them has made it a year before they were rusted, cushions split, nasty, and not worth saving. Then I found this shower bench! I was hesitant to spend $300 on a shower bench until my wife reminded me that every other bench I had costed me between 80 and 100 dollars, and they didn't swivel or slide. So I took the plunge and spent the money, and let me say that I am SO GLAD I DID!!

This bench is everything that all of my other benches WERE NOT! The rails are REAL aluminum instead of the garbage aluminum plated metal that all of the old benches were made out of! The cushions are solid pieces of heavy duty waterproof foam material instead of the cheap and thin vinyl covered foam/wood cushions which always split after 3-6 months on the other shower benches. I can tell these cushions will last a long time. Even the rubber rail bushings and feet are REAL rubber instead of the cheap grey "rubber" feet used on all the other benches. Basically, I can tell this shower bench was constructed right, with quality materials and was properly engineered to provide a quality product that will last and perform for years. I only wish I had bought this shower bench 7 years ago!!

The shower bench comes in a box which almost looks too small to contain the correct product. But I can assure you it does contain the correct shower bench. I was able to put the bench together by myself, from my wheelchair, in about 15 minutes. If you have a helper, or an able bodied person to put it together, you could put it together even quicker. The swivel and slide functions work perfectly, even better than I had expected! I am truly amazed at how well this product looks and functions! When I think back on all of the other shower benches I have wasted good money on, the $300 price tag for this chair is more than reasonable. Especially considering that this chair also swivels and slides!

And finally, the people at Platinum Health are extremely courteous and quick to reply, should you need to contact them! When I ordered this product I was without any shower bench, because my previous one had broken in our move, so I was unable to shower at all. I contacted the seller, explaining that I was without a bench, and asked if there was any way they could expedite my order and they responded within a few hours and tried their best to help out. It turns out that they had a warehouse about an hour from where I live, but unfortunately I waited too long to contact them or they could have had it shipped from that warehouse. Even with it shipping from a few states away, it arrived 3-4 days earlier than I had expected! They have even emailed me twice after I received the bench, to ask how my experience has been and if I have any questions or concerns!

To sum it up, if you are considering purchasing this product, GO FOR IT! You won't be disappointed! And NO, I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS PRODUCT FOR FREE OR AT A DISCOUNT. I purchased it for full price and had no other incentive, other than necessity, to do so.
